Vegas Notes

- Royals-Astros have the highest game total of the night at nine runs. If you are looking to stack a team and/or game, this is the game to look at as no other game total surpasses 8 runs.

- Washington-Atlanta, L.A. Angels-Oakland, Miami-New York Mets all have 7-run totals, which are the lowest of the night.

-The Cubs and Nationals are the heaviest favorites to win, (Nationals -240) and (Cubs -210).

Featured Players

Max Scherzer (R), Nationals

Max Scherzer will be going up against the Braves tonight, which provides him a gorgeous matchup. In 2015, the Braves struggled big-time against right-handed pitching. They finished the year with a .300 wOBA (27th in MLB), 88 wRC+ (27th in MLB) and a .108 ISO (dead-last in MLB). Scherzer also had himself quite a year last season. He finished the year with a 2.77 FIP (7th in MLB), 30.7 K% (3rd in MLB) and a 2.63 SIERA (3rd in MLB). One of the best pitchers in baseball will be going up against one of the worst offenses of 2015, which makes this pick a no-brainier. Don't think to hard and pencil in Scherzer as your pitcher. Just do it!

If you want to save some money at pitcher or don't like Scherzer for some strange reason -- I also like Sonny Gray tonight.

Robinson Cano will be going up against right-handed pitcher Colby Lewis, which provides him with a beautiful matchup. Colby Lewis has struggled against left-handed batters throughout his career. He has a career 4.74 FIP, 8.1 K-BB%, .347 wOBA and a 1.51 WHIP against left-handed batters. Cano has also done some serious damage against right-handed pitching. He has a career .378 wOBA, .207 ISO and 174 home runs (243 in his career). Cano is my top play of tonight's slate.

Here's my secret formula for Robinson Cano: RHP+Cano = excellent cash play (especially if it's a RHP with a wOBA over .330).

I just mentioned how bad Colby Lewis has been against left-handed batters throughout his career, so I thought I would go ahead and talk about another Mariners' bat I love -- Kyle Seager! In his career, he has a .351 wOBA and a .183 ISO against right-handed pitching. He is a guy that has tremendous upside with his ability to hit the long ball. I guess I'll just say it -- today is a Seager DONG day! So go ahead and put him in your lineups!

Dexter Fowler (R), Cubs

$3,400$4,500B. Finnegan - L.388.13414314.10

Fowler has started off the 2016 season with a BANG! In 26 at-bats, he has a .624 wOBA, .388 ISO and 7 runs scored. Tonight, he will be facing southpaw Brandon Finnegan. In 2015, Fowler demolished left-handed pitchers. He finished the year with a .383 wOBA and a .142 ISO. Brandon Finnegan is a young, inexperienced pitcher that the Cubs could do some damage against (especially since they have scored 42 runs in their first six games of 2016). Fowler is red-hot to start the year and is a great pickup for tonight, especially with all the damage he is doing hitting at the top of the Cubs order.

.338.15911953.86
I love Bryce Harper tonight, but I didn't want to name the obvious National to plug into your lineups, so I present you with -- Daniel Murphy! Murphy will be going up against Bud Norris tonight, which provides him with an attractive L/R matchup. Since 2013, left-handed batters have hit for a .367 wOBA and have a .484 SLG% against Bud Norris. He also has a 4.90 FIP against left-handed batters, which puts Murphy in a perfect spot. Murphy has a .338 wOBA against right-handed pitchers since 2013 with 119 wRC+. Bryce Harper is an excellent play tonight, but don't forget about his teammate Daniel Murphy.

Value Plays

Salvador Perez (C - KC) FD: $3,100, DK: $3,500

Collin McHugh is a solid pitcher, but this game has a 9-run total, so some exposure to some KC bats is ideal. With that being said -- Salvador Perez is an excellent value play tonight. He will be playing in what is supposed to be the highest game-total of the night and gets a favorable R/R matchup (Yes a R/R matchup is favorable for Salvy). Most of his power comes against right-handed pitchers, as he has hit 46 of his 65 against them. Righties have also had more success against McHugh. Since 2013, Right-handed hitters have a .309 wOBA against him and left-handed hitters have a .295 wOBA. With not many options at the catcher position and a favorable R/R matchup; Salvador Perez is my top catcher of the night.

Michael Conforto (OF - NYM) FD: $2,500, DK: $3,500

Conforto absolutely crushed right-handed pitching last season and is an excellent play tonight. He will be going up against right-handed pitcher Jared Cosart today, who can be inconsistent on the mound. Conforto finished 2015 with a .371 wOBA, 142 wRC+, 256 ISO and a .872 OPS. If you can't afford one of those high-priced studs in the outfield, don't be afraid to roster Conforto.

Ketel Marte (SS - SEA) FD: $2,500, DK: $3,700

I know I have been picking on Colby Lewis quite a bit today, but I can't help myself -- I'm sorry! Lewis just hasn't been great against left-handed batters throughout his career, so I will go ahead and plug in Marte into my lineups. Marte had a .342 wOBA and 121 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers in 2015. He is also a guy I highly recommend into your rosters if you are planning to stack the Mariners. He will be hitting in front of Seattle's power hitters, so he could score if he gets on base. If you can't afford Carlos Correa for your cash games -- Marte is the next best option.

Love all these calls just wish Mad Max wasn't so expensive

Any concern about Fowler/Cubs first game in cold weather with wind blowing in?
TheStu
Also, Brandon Finnegan is a lefty for the Reds, you have Fowlers stats against RHP shown.
JasonG4s
I second Zach there. $13,000 is crazy. Thanks for pointing out @TheStu, stats were correct, the titling was off.
NRodriguezDFS
Those are his stats vs LHP. And it's definitely something to keep an eye out on, especially with all the games called off due to weather. Could also go with Nelson Cruz, Lorenzo Cain or Cespedes who are all around the same price on DK.
