Cash Game Locks: MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball

Cash games typically reward high floor rosters. You don't need to score 60 points on FanDuel or 160 on DraftKings to win money. Instead you should aim for a nice base of around 40 and 120 points respectively. Our MLB Cash Game Picks will highlight the top pick and a value pick at each position for both platforms.

Chris Sale headlines the pitching tonight, he takes on Minnesota, who have just a .283 team wOBA against left-handed pitching this season. They also are scoring just 3.3 runs per game this season, which is 27th in the majors. Chicago is a pretty big favorite, according to Vegas, while some of the other pitchers on the board have a lot slimmer odds. Sale has an electric strikeout rate, ranking second in 2014 behind Clayton Kershaw. He has allowed no more than two earned runs in his first three starts this season.

This game features two of the top starters in tonight's slate, but Jacob DeGrom is the one I will be leaning on in cash games. Stephen Strasburg has not been a consistent cash game play this season, and has failed to hit double-digit FanDuel points in three of four starts. Outside of DeGrom's last start against New York, he has been very stable in cash games dating back to last season. He is a small favorite tonight, and at home has been dominant with a 1.43 career ERA.

Evan Gattis is going to begin a trend of targeting against lefty pitchers tonight. The Astros offense finally put up some runs this season in San Diego, and Gattis' history against left-handed pitchers is one to take advantage of tonight. Vegas has set a high run total tonight for this game, it will be a good game to get some action in.

I have no clue what is going on in the world, but A.J. Pierzynski is hitting .459 against right-handed pitching this season. His number over the last three seasons indicate him being a better offensive catcher, but he is on another level this season. Mike Leake is a great matchup for him to keep the hot start going, he has allowed a career .339 wOBA to left-handed bats. Lefties already have four home runs off him this season.

It feels like you can do no wrong tonight at first base, but I have to lean on Miguel Cabrera in cash games. Danny Duffy had a 4.13 FIP against right-handed bats in 2014, the .299 wOBA was deceptive. The Tigers are a great team to target tonight, right-handed bats have a 31% line-drive rate this season off Duffy. Vegas has this one in the high scoring section tonight, and I will making sure to get some guys in on the Detroit side.

Joey Votto is showing some major power this season, with seven home runs off right-handed pitching. Shelby Miller comes in carrying a 4.43 FIP against left-handed bats in his career. He has also allowed a 1.14 HR/9 to lefties. I am a big fan of his price on FanDuel tonight.

$3,600$3,600T.J. House - L.653.73332218.5

Jose Altuve could be in for a monster night if his teammates are getting going. The Vegas run total is one of the highest of the night, and Altuve has great numbers against lefties. He is hitting .467 in the last seven days, and .545 against lefties this season. He is a threat to steal a base or two on any given night, and only has a 7.3% strikeout rate. You can't go wrong with Altuve when he faces a lefty.

The numbers are not from a three year span, just 16 plate appearances, but overall Devon Travis has been one of the hottest players in the league. He has three home runs off left-handed pitching this season, and is hitting .356 overall. T.J. house has shown little ability to pitch against right-handed bats in his career so far, allowing a .373 wOBA in 79 IP. The Blue Jays are another popular team to target tonight.

Shortstop is the weakest position on the board tonight, and Andrelton Simmons offers better value now that he has been moved up to second in the lineup. Leake is not a tough matchup for him, despite Simmons' numbers against right-handed pitching over the past few years.

With Cleveland's lineup being heavily left-handed, Mike Aviles will come into the second spot in the lineup with a lefty on the hill. Daniel Norris is on the hill for Toronto tonight, who has not been sharp this season. Aviles does not have the best numbers against lefties, but I have no problem paying down for him tonight at shortstop.

Josh Donaldson is priced insanely high on DraftKings, but he is fairly priced for the matchup on FanDuel. House is one of the weaker lefties in the league right now, and I plan on targeting a lot of Jays' bats against him. Donaldson ranked 8th in wOBA against left-handed pitching in 2014. Per StatCorner, Progressive field has a 106 park factor for home runs to right-handed bats.

It may be a surprise, but Mike Moustakas is averaging more fantasy pointer per game on DraftKings than Miguel Cabrera. Moustakas is the lone value play at third base today. He is having an excellent start to 2015, hitting .333 against right-handed pitching. Alfredo Simon had a 4.52 FIP against left-handed bats in 2014.

If I am playing up for a high priced outfielder tonight, it is Jose Bautista. Most of the Toronto bats have proven track records against left-handed pitching, and Joey Bats is another one. The value catcher and middle infield spots can allow a high priced player or two.

J.D. Martinez crushed left-handed pitching in 2014, with a .425 wOBA and a .333 ISO. This year he has a 54% line drive rate against lefties in 20 at-bats. He finds himself priced lower than Yoenis Cespedes, who is also in play, on both sites. I am a big fan of the Tigers' outfield tonight,

To help fit some of those big bats to go along with Sale or DeGrom, Ryan Raburn can help. Raburn is in a situation like Aviles', he enters the lineup when a lefty is on the hill. He is hitting .370 against lefties this season. He has been up and down over the past few years, with a .264 wOBA in 2014, and in 2013 he had a .437 wOBA. I like him hitting fifth against Norris today.

Count me in on Bautista tonight, think he finally breaks out.

Altuve is such a lock for me in cash when he faces a lefty. Love him
