The purpose of this column is to highlight some players with upside and well-suited for tournaments. While the majority of the hitter picks will likely have power upside, that's not necessarily the case for all the listed options. Other contextual factors such as batting order, ballpark, opposing pitcher, price, speed, etc also come into play, and you'll see these items sprinkled into the write-ups below. Along with that, we'll be gauging the ownership levels, giving you some plausible pivots from the popular choices in a given game slate.

Tournament Pitchers

Jon Gray - SP - Colorado Rockies

Jon Gray gets to move out of Colorado and pitch in San Francisco tonight. Big advantage for him as he gets a poor offense on the road and can bounce back. Love the value he brings on both sides, and even with higher ownership, I can make a leverage lineup with my bats. Gray has a 25% strikeout rate, and this Giants offense is just flat out bat. Take the value and run with Gray.

Top GPP Hitters

Javier Baez - SS - Chicago Cubs

Javier Baez has over a .200 ISO off right-handed pitching dating back to last season. He is a tremendous option on tonight's slate, as the Wrigley winds are blowing out, and Julio Teheran has been one of the luckiest pitchers in baseball. Baez brings power and speed, and his price is on the cheaper side in comparison to what we have seen earlier this season.

Jose Abreu - 1B - Chicago White Sox

It pains me to do this to my guy Eduardo Rodriguez, but he just continues to have these innings or at-bats where the makes the big mistakes. Jose Abreu can put one over the wall real quick, and has over a .200 ISO against southpaws. His wOBA is up near .400 against lefties this season, and he should be overlooked.

Scott Kingery - OF - Philadelphia Phillies

Scott Kingery should be batting leadoff tonight, and this is a prime spot for the Phillies offense. Steven Matz is on the road where he has over a 6.00 ERA and allowing over a .370 wOBA. Most of his HR come on the road, and this is a friendly ballpark for power. Kingery has over a .200 ISO this season and still comes in at a fair price.
