The purpose of this column is to highlight some players with upside and well-suited for tournaments. While the majority of the hitter picks will likely have power upside, that's not necessarily the case for all the listed options. Other contextual factors such as batting order, ballpark, opposing pitcher, price, speed, etc also come into play, and you'll see these items sprinkled into the write-ups below. Along with that, we'll be gauging the ownership levels, giving you some plausible pivots from the popular choices in a given game slate.

Tonight's main slate only involves four games, but there is a ton of action throughout the entire day. As always be aware of weather, lineups and utilize our tools such as Ballpark Factor, Cheat Sheets, and the Stack Generator. This post is only covering the night games, but our tools can certainly help you throughout all of the early games as well. Good Luck!

This will be our first look at Stroman in the regular season and he is facing a hot swinging Rays team tonight. Since it is in Tampa Bay there is a roof so the weather should not be a concern, and it is a favorable pitching park with a score of 0.96 in Park Factor. The appeal of Stroman for me tonight over Matt Harvey is the higher K% of 19.3 compared to Harvey's 17.8. He is also more likely to pitch later in the game than Harvey will tonight too. The implied run total for the Jays is also higher which is more appealing, although it isn't by much.

Altuve is a guy most would never dispute playing if you can play him. Tonight's smaller 4 game slate will make it much easier to do as well. He may not be a sneaky play, and will likely be one of the highest owned players of the night in GPP's, but if you can squeeze him in I would do it. His wOBA is above 0.350 which I look for, he is also in the second most favorable park of the night with a ballpark factor of 1, just behind Arizona's home park. The implied run total is also highest of the slate, so Altuve should be a part of the scoring in some capacity tonight. Especially facing off against a non-intimidating pitcher in Miranda.

Donaldson like Altuve is one of the highest costing players on the smaller slate for tonight. He is also in a favorable matchup with the second highest implied run total. His wOBA is a whopping 0.389 against lefties, and although Snell is shaping up to be a very good one, Donaldson should be able to get his licks in for sure tonight. He will cost you, but with some decent value everywhere in the four games it can be done.

Belt is back in my GPP picks, and although he hit a bomb in last night's game he could certainly go deep again tonight against the leftie Robbie Ray. His numbers against lefties are significantly better and the price on FanDuel is tremendous if you want to go with the heavy hitters mentioned above as well. Arizona has the highest ballpark factor with a 1.04 tonight, so the Giants and Diamondbacks players should be in play as well with a combined 9.5 implied runs tonight. Belt is a more cost effective option than a Paul Goldschmidt tonight as well, although he may stil be a highly owned player.

Jeff Samardzija - R

Peralta may not have the peripherals that pop off the page like the players mentioned above, but he was one of my favorite lefty vs righty players to utilize last season, and he didn't dissappoint too often. Samardzija can be dominant at times, but also vulnerable as games progress. As I mentioned above this game has the highest implied total of the main slate tonight, and I can't help but see Peralta do some damage at a reasonable price on DraftKings and very cheap on FanDuel.
