The purpose of this column is to highlight some players with upside and well-suited for tournaments. While the majority of the hitter picks will likely have power upside, that's not necessarily the case for all the listed options. Other contextual factors such as batting order, ballpark, opposing pitcher, price, speed, etc also come into play, and you'll see these items sprinkled into the write-ups below. Along with that, we'll be gauging the ownership levels, giving you some plausible pivots from the popular choices in a given game slate.

Top GPP Pitcher

Chase Anderson (P), Brewers

Wow is this pitching slate ugly. The top two priced guys on DK are both coming off of the DL, and everyone under that is relatively cheap. Chase Anderson is the way we go tonight, against a weak Padres team. He gets an extreme ballpark upgrade going to Petco Park, and is definitely a safe way to attack this slate. He's 2-0, with a sub 3 ERA, and on this slate, that's great news. I'm predicting 6-7 innings, with 2 ER, and 5 K's. That will get you a QS, and give you a great chance to get a W. At his price, that's more than enough.

Is Mike Trout on fire or what? He's homered in three straight games, and gets a great chance to do so again against Mike Pelfrey. I really like the Angels stack tonight, and if you stack them, you have to have the best player in baseball be a part of it. Trout absolutely crushes opposing righties, and will look to do so again today against Pelfrey. With all of the extra salary you should have left over because of the pitching options, you should have no problem fitting Trout into your lineups. Trout is in play in all formats.

Giancarlo Stanton is in a great spot tonight, and I think he ends up going overlooked. Musgrove has struggled with his ground ball rate this season, and the Marlins have left the roof open in 5 out of their last 6 home games, meaning the ball will fly in this Florida heat. I think the Marlins go overlooked here, and they make for a sneaky good stack. Stanton is a GPP-only play for me tonight, but that's exactly what we're looking for on this slate.

When you really start to dig into the research, you realize there's Corey Seager, and then everyone else at SS tonight. He's in a way better spot than any of the other SS on this slate, and should be in all of your lineups. I understand throwing a random SS in as part of your stacks, but no other SS compares to his upside tonight. Matt Cain is a weak right-hander, and with the winds blowing out at 15-20 mph, Seager is my HR call of the day.

Like I stated above with Mike Trout, Mike Pelfrey is just abysmal. He has a tough time getting anyone out, and that bodes well for Danny Espinosa. Espinosa brings a lot of power to the plate, and is a great candidate to hit one out against Pelfrey. He's very cheap on both sites, and will certainly be overlooked, given all of the extra salary you should have to spend. He's a great GPP play on this slate given his match up, salary and batting order.
