The purpose of this column is to highlight some players with upside and well-suited for tournaments. While the majority of the hitter picks will likely have power upside, that's not necessarily the case for all the listed options. Other contextual factors such as batting order, ballpark, opposing pitcher, price, speed, etc also come into play, and you'll see these items sprinkled into the write-ups below. Along with that, we'll be gauging the ownership levels, giving you some plausible pivots from the popular choices in a given game slate.

Drew Pomeranz (L), Red Sox

$7,500$7,600TEX4.3226.638.73.75-198

Drew Pomeranz gets a Texas team that struggles against left-handed pitching, ranking 25th in wOBA (.291), 18th in ISO (.147), and have the fourth highest K% (24.3%). The weather at Fenway is cool and damp, which should help Pomeranz keep the ball in the park. Boston are huge home favorites, and Texas has one of the lowest totals on the night slate. Pomeranz can be erratic at times, with a 9.5% walk rate, but the 26.6% strikeout rate is what we are after. Pomeranz is a solid SP2 in all formats given the slate circumstances, but on FanDuel as a single bullet he makes sense to fit some bats in. If he was any more expensive I would be off, but these prices have me intrigued given I can fit in a lot of the high total offenses.
