MLB Mobile Sports Betting Toolkit
The purpose of this column is to highlight some players with upside and well-suited for tournaments. While the majority of the hitter picks will likely have power upside, that's not necessarily the case for all the listed options. Other contextual factors such as batting order, ballpark, opposing pitcher, price, speed, etc also come into play, and you'll see these items sprinkled into the write-ups below. Along with that, we'll be gauging the ownership levels, giving you some plausible pivots from the popular choices in a given game slate.
Top GPP Pitcher
Chris Sale (P), Red Sox | |||||||
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp | FIP | K% | GB% | Opp Run Total | Moneyline |
$11,400 | $12,700 | Tigers | 2.28 | 32.1% | 38.1% | 3.75 | -190 |
Even though he hasn't been himself the last few games, I'm betting on one of the top pitchers in the MLB here. He's easily the best pitcher on this slate, and it's not even close. Chris Sale's FIP and K percentage are nothing short of elite, and he gets to face a Tigers team that whiffs a lot. The majority of people will probably pay down to Severino to get more bats, but if i can get the best pitcher on the slate at lower ownership than he should be, I might just have to go all-in on him. #1 cash game play, and #1 GPP pitcher for me.
Top GPP Hitters
Josh Donaldson (3B), Blue Jays
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs LHP | ISO vs LHP | wRC+ vs LHP | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$4,400 | $4,900 | Miranda-L | 0.429 | 0.182 | 151 | 2 | 5 |
Josh Donaldson has been on a tear ever since returning from the DL. He's picked up right where he left off last season, and has given this Blue Jays team an instant boost, and the star they needed back in this lineup. Donaldson is priced up on all sites, as he should be, which may make him go overlooked tonight. I'm looking to ride the hot streak, and play Donaldson in all formats tonight.
Aaron Judge (OF), Yankees
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP | ISO vs RHP | wRC+ vs RHP | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$4,600 | $5,400 | Tillman-R | 0.422 | 0.328 | 200 | 5 | 5.5 |
It's easy to like Aaron Judge on most nights, but tonight is a night that I'd really like to have him. Chris Tillman hasn't pitched much this year, but when he has, he's not inducing a lot of soft contact. To make matters worse, he's been terrible on the road this season. He's given up a 0.428 wOBA to righties on the road this year, which plays right into Judge's strengths. I'm looking to "The Judge" in GPP's tonight.
Corey Seager (SS), Dodgers
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP | ISO vs RHP | wRC+ vs RHP | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3,600 | $4,100 | Wojciechowski-R | 0.360 | 0.161 | 145 | 2 | 4.75 |
Asher Wojciechowski got away without getting killed Monday, because of some bad base running decisions by a sub-par Cardinals teams. Those mental errors won't happen tonight with a Dodgers team that's ready to become the kings of the NL. Corey Seager is the guy I really want tonight. He's way too cheap across the industry, and has been for a majority of the season. I really like Seager in GPP's tonight.
Austin Jackson (OF), Indians
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs LHP | ISO vs LHP | wRC+ vs LHP | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3,000 | $3,300 | Holmberg-L | 0.429 | 0.244 | 151 | 9 | 6 |
Austin Jackson has been killing it these last couple of weeks. He's been playing everyday against a lefty, and has even got some time in against a righty. Tonight, he gets a bad lefty in David Holmberg. Jackson should be batting in the 9-hole like usual, but his recent success could give him a boost in the lineup. He's super sneaky for GPP's if he is batting in the nine spot, because he'll garner little-to-no ownership. His price tag is a little higher than normal, which makes his case even greater for GPP's.
