The purpose of this column is to highlight some players with upside and well-suited for tournaments. While the majority of the hitter picks will likely have power upside, that's not necessarily the case for all the listed options. Other contextual factors such as batting order, ballpark, opposing pitcher, price, speed, etc also come into play, and you'll see these items sprinkled into the write-ups below. Along with that, we'll be gauging the ownership levels, giving you some plausible pivots from the popular choices in a given game slate.

Top GPP Pitcher

Jose Berrios (P), Twins

People (not as many as normal) are going to be on Chris Sale tonight, but I think Jose Berrios makes for a great pivot in GPP's. The Red Sox are terrible against the curveball, and that's what Berrios loves to throw a lot, and boy is it nasty. His strikeout potential on this slate is high, and he is somewhat safe. My favorite pitcher of the night (assuming TEX goes righty-heavy) is Carlos Carrasco, but with the weather scares, and the uncertainty of the Rangers lineup, I'll have to use the wait-and-see approach. I still like Berrios regardless though, and think he's a great option in your GPP's tonight.

Aaron Judge is just a plug-and-play option here for me on this slate. I know he's expensive, but this ballpark and weather conditions makes him a must for me tonight. David Holmberg isn't a good pitcher by any means, and he struggles with right-handed power bats. If Castro and Holliday are healthy, I love the Yankee stack here, but nonetheless, I want Judge in my GPP's tonight.

I don't understand why Justin Turner is never owned. He has the best batting average in the MLB, and is always going to get you something. Ricky Nolasco is a reverse-splits pitcher, and Turner mashes right-handed pitching, so this should work out perfectly for him. Safety usually isn't what we're looking for in GPP's, but it can never hurt to have some safe players with massive upside.

Usually, we wouldn't pick on Jordan Montgomery, but this is the perfect spot to do so. Montgomery is a fly ball pitcher in what should be a game with severe winds blowing out. That's not good news for him, but that is good news for Avisail Garcia. Garcia has been absolutely crushing left-handed pitchers this year, and has a great chance to do so again tonight. I like Garcia in all formats tonight, but for GPP's, I think he's a must.

Eddie Butler is a ground ball pitcher, and while I don't like picking on ground ball pitchers, I do like this spot for Matt Wieters. Wieters profiles nicely against pitches low in the zone, and that's exactly where Butler like to throw them. The Nationals are one of the top offenses on the slate, and I'm looking to get some cheap exposure at a position that's weak. Wieters checks all of the boxes here, and is a nice GPP play tonight.
