The purpose of this column is to highlight some players with upside and well-suited for tournaments. While the majority of the hitter picks will likely have power upside, that's not necessarily the case for all the listed options. Other contextual factors such as batting order, ballpark, opposing pitcher, price, speed, etc also come into play, and you'll see these items sprinkled into the write-ups below. Along with that, we'll be gauging the ownership levels, giving you some plausible pivots from the popular choices in a given game slate.

Michael Fulmer has had some struggles at times this year, but does get a good matchup against San Francisco. Looking at his FIP of 2.95, it looks like he has been a little unlucky at times. Unfortunately, his strikeout rate is lower than I'd like, but the groundball rate still is up there. Going up against Matt Cain, Fulmer is in a good spot to collect a win. Over his last three starts, Fulmer owns a 2.42 ERA while owning a 21.2% strikeout rate. The Giants offense is hit or miss, and I really think this is going to be one of those misses. Even though the Giants have a good amount of lefties in their lineup, Fulmer allows just a .265 wOBA to lefties, as he's more of a reverse splits type of pitcher.

Although J.C. Ramirez allows just a .280 wOBA to righties on the year, I still really like Miguel Sano here. Sano has been an offensive force all year long, and today doesn't look to be any different. Sano has hit 16 of his 20 home runs against righties on the year for a .275 ISO. He's also hit well at home, owning a .363 wOBA and a .215 ISO. He's on a five game hit streak as well, hitting .381 with two home runs in that span. Ramirez has struggled over his last three starts, as he has a 6.75 ERA over those three games. He's also allowing a 2.45 HR/9. Sano is always a home run threat, and today is no different.

$4,000$4,300Matt Cain - R.334.20410745.75

Matt Cain, Matt Cain, Matt Cain. That's it, really! Cain has been atrocious on the road this year, owning a 8.31 ERA. Although Detroit Stadium isn't a hitters park, away from AT&T has been a huge struggle for Cain. Miguel Cabrera always has that huge potential in his bat. At home this year, Cabrera has a .409 wOBA and a .303 ISO. Those are some impressive numbers that might get overlooked by the casual DFS player. However, here at DFC, it is not getting overlooked. If Cabrera does not have a multi-hit game, I'd be shocked. My only concern is that Cabrera only faces Cain twice today before Cain gets replaced. Regardless, it's still a great spot for Cabrera.

$2,800$3,400Ubaldo Jimenez- R.335.15610285.75

I don't usually write up eight hitters, but when I do, it's when Ubaldo Jimenez is on the hill. Only the second Ubaldo to ever play in the majors, he's just not a good starter anymore. He owns a 6.48 ERA, despite his eight inning no run performance against the Blue Jays last time out. No, I don't think he's turned the corner. That game was just Jimenez facing a very woeful Blue Jays offense. On the road this season, Jimenez has a 6.02 ERA, which clearly is not good. Although Jimenez has struggled with lefties, his .311 wOBA against righties is also not good. Orlando Arcia has hits in 16 of his last 19 games while putting up a .424 batting average. He also has a .371 wOBA at home on the year.

$3,100$3,200Jameson Taillion - R.268.1326233.5

However you slice it, Maikel Franco has had a pretty terrible season. However, Franco still has potential in that bat. Franco his hit six of his 11 home runs against righties this season. He did hit a home run yesterday, so it looks like he might be heating up again. You'd still be taking a chance on him, but with his home run potential, it's hard to deny it. The ballpark also benefits him here, so that's another plus. Jameson Taillion is actually a pretty good pitcher at times, but is a reverse splits starter, allowing .341 wOBA to righties compared to just .299 against lefties. If Franco can get a hold of one, he can easily pay off that salary. He's a little expensive for me on FanDuel, as you can find cheaper options, but he's still a useful addition.
