The purpose of this column is to highlight some players with upside and well-suited for tournaments. While the majority of the hitter picks will likely have power upside, that's not necessarily the case for all the listed options. Other contextual factors such as batting order, ballpark, opposing pitcher, price, speed, etc also come into play, and you'll see these items sprinkled into the write-ups below. Along with that, we'll be gauging the ownership levels, giving you some plausible pivots from the popular choices in a given game slate.

Sean Manaea is a great GPP play on tonight's slate. Baltimore is always a tough team to read, because you never know what team you're going to get, but Manaea has a lot of swing-and-miss stuff, and the Orioles are one of the MLB's top strikeout teams. He comes in at a ridiculously low $6,200 on DraftKings, where I look to deploy him as my SP2 over there. Much more in play on DraftKings than FanDuel for me, but he's a quality option tonight for his price.

Nelson Cruz is just as hot as anyone right now(ok maybe not as hot as Giancarlo Stanton), and no one knows it. He's been an XBH machine over his last week, and I think he continues to do so here. J.C. Ramirez gets roughed up by lefties, which should put plenty of baserunners on for Cruz to knock in. The Mariners are a contrarian stack that i like on this slate, and will be using in GPP's, led by Cruz.

Javier Baez is a great contrarian play on this 11-game slate. He has a ton of power against lefties, and is in a great ballpark to send one out. He should bat somewhere in the middle of that lineup, and should have a great chance to knock some guys in. Patrick Corbin is always tough to judge, given his inconsistency, but he was just roughed up by this team last week, and I see it happening again tonight. Baez is in play in all formats for me tonight, and the Cubs are my top stack.

Eric Hosmer is one of my favorite plays on this slate, and for good reason. James Shields is nothing short of terrible, and Hosmer has been playing very well this year. Shields has been getting crushed by opposing bats this year, especially lefties, and will see a Royals team who is a hit or miss stack, but should hit tonight. I like the Royals as one of my top 2 stacks on the slate (Cubs), and I like Hosmer to have a big game.

Ryon Healy is a very under-the-radar play on this slate. No one is going to look at the Oakland offense given the ballpark, and other top offenses on the slate, but I like Healy a lot tonight. He has a ton of power, and will have very low ownership(sub 5 percent). He is a great GPP play given his HR upside, and is too cheap on both sites. I wouldn't play him in cash, but he's a great leverage play in GPP's over some of the popular 3B on this slate.
