The purpose of this column is to highlight some players with upside and well-suited for tournaments. While the majority of the hitter picks will likely have power upside, that's not necessarily the case for all the listed options. Other contextual factors such as batting order, ballpark, opposing pitcher, price, speed, etc also come into play, and you'll see these items sprinkled into the write-ups below. Along with that, we'll be gauging the ownership levels, giving you some plausible pivots from the popular choices in a given game slate.

I don't know how old my audience is here, but does anyone remember the cartoon Bonkers? Well, I feel I've gone a little bonkers recommending Matt Moore. I don't think I could pay up for him on FanDuel, but on DraftKings, he's virtually the minimum for starting pitchers. He's not great, but for this price tag, it's worth taking some stabs at it with him. One good thing about Moore is that he's facing a pretty pathetic offense in the Philadelphia Phillies. In addition, this is a home game for him, where he has a much better ERA of 4.87. It's still quite a risky play, considering Moore is 3-12 with a 5.71 ERA on the year. One of the big concerns with Moore is his low strikeout percentage, but he did strike out nine batters in his last game and seven the one before. Hopefully that trend continues here and catapults his DFS relevance.

$3,800$4,900Jordan Zimmermann - R.374.19613425

This is more about how bad Jordan Zimmermann is, rather than how good Corey Seager is. Zimmermann is coming off of a start where he allowed seven runs and two home runs in just 3.1 innings pitched. He's also allowing a .387 wOBA and a 2.04 HR/9 to lefties. He just hasn't been good at all. Despite not having much power this month, Seager is carrying a .383 wOBA. Seager also has hits in 11 of his past 12 starts. He's been really locked in lately and Zimmermann is going to struggle. Not only should Zimmermann struggle against Seager, the front end of the Dodgers lineup should give him fits. This in turn could lead to more RBI opportunities for Seager.

$4,000$4,700Jordan Montgomery - L .348.15611224.5

Mookie Betts is fresh off his walk off in the Red Sox' last game. Betts is kind of in an intriguing price tag, as red hot Andrew Benintendi is priced the same on DraftKings. Betts on the other hand, has been pretty mediocre recently. Betts does have the advantage of facing a lefty, where he has pretty good numbers against. Since Betts uses the whole field, he doesn't really utilize the Green Monster as much as he could, which is evident by him only hitting four home runs at Fenway Park. But despite all this, I think his three-hit outing last time out was a sign that he was starting to turn things around. Betts hasn't really looked like the MVP caliber player he has been previously, but it looks like he might be ready to break out again. Against a lefty in Jordan Montgomery, I think Betts has a pretty good shot to do just that. Betts wasn't able to get a hit off of Montgomery in their first matchup, but there's a good chance that changes here since Betts sort of knows now how Montgomery pitches. Although Montgomery has had a successful season, he's starting to get near a high inning total.

$2,700$3,400Andrew Heaney - L.338.11010885.5

Andrew Heaney will be making his first appearance in 2017 in the majors. Riddled with injuries, Heaney will be starting for the first time in 14 months. He's pitched well in the minors but this is the majors, and he could be in some trouble. In his career, Welington Castillo has shown good power against lefties. He has only hit two home runs against lefties, but does own a .338 wOBA this season against them. On a positive note though, Castillo owns a .193 ISO at Camden Yards this season. In the second half this year, Castillo has already hit four home runs with a .358 batting average. Hopefully he gets moved up a little bit higher in the order, but regardless, he's still in a pretty good spot.

$2,300$3,000Justin Nicolino - L.326.16710264.5

This is all about saving salary here as Juan Lagares is at such a low price on FanDuel. You'll obviously have to make sure that he's in the lineup, as it isn't always a guarantee. However, Lagares has looked good in his minimal time this year. He's collected four hits since being called up again, sporting a .308 average. Sure, it's a small sample size, but sometimes you just have to take a chance on rostering guys this low priced. He gets to face Justin Nicolino, who is allowing a .341 wOBA to righties this year. He's also allowing a 1.42 HR/9 this season to righties. Nicolino, like Lagares, doesn't have a long track record this season, considering he is making just his second start since being called up. He only allowed one run in his last start, but did struggle with command, allowing four walks. With both of these players somewhat unknown, I tend to gravitate towards the hitter. Plus, at this price tag, he will save you enough money to do what you want in your lineup tonight.
