Kershaw is the top option on tonight's slate, and there is rarely an argument against him as the elite play on any slate. Tonight's matchup against the Diamondbacks in Chase Field is a tough task for many pitchers, but not the best pitcher on the planet. Kershaw boasted a historic 31.9% strikeout rate last season to go along with a terrific 51.8% groundball rate. To further his status as the top option for tonight, his wOBA splits against both RHB (.237) and LHB (.215) were phenomenal in 2014. Don't overthink this one.
