Stacking has become a prime way to take down big tournaments, as well as giving your cash game team a solid floor. We focus on opposing pitcher stats, Vegas, weather, park factors, team stats, salaries, and player stats when deciding the top three stacks of the night. I know. Shocker we look at those things. If there is a Coors game on the slate, we will mostly divert our attention elsewhere, as Coors games are the obvious stacks of the night. It doesn't need much breaking down. If you are looking for a stack to pair with Jake Arrieta or Max Scherzer, Pittsburgh is there for the taking. Outside of Andrew McCutchen, the rest of the team is priced quite nicely. Josh Bell isn't someone who stands out on a full slate, but on a slate with minimal cheap pitching and seven games, he is one of my favorite values. He has a .341 wOBA and .215 ISO against right-handers this season, while Jordan Zimmermann has allowed a .374 wOBA and .214 ISO to lefties. Gregory Polanco is the other lefty to take advantage. While he hasn't had the season we all expected, he still has a .177 ISO against right-handers. Zimmermann allows a .354 wOBA and .219 ISO to right-handers this season, and his groundball rate sits below 40%. Yes, he shut down both Houston and New York in back-to-back starts. Is Zimmermann all of a sudden the serviceable SP2 he was before? No. He has the fourth worst xFIP in the majors among qualified starters, and a 15.9% strikeout rate. The Pirates offer up some value on this slate, and don't get buried under a lot of high totals in better ballparks like fuller slates.
