As mentioned in yesterday's inaugural edition, this column is constructed to give daily fantasy enthusiasts insight to the most popular picks in a game slate, assessing their viability along the way. In other words, The Pulse is designed to gauge the daily fantasy world's opinion as a whole. We will then take it a step further, telling you when to “join the herd" and when to pivot elsewhere.

Buzz is calculated on a 1-10 scale by considering numerous daily fantasy media outlets picks and general conversation on forums/twitter.

POINT GUARD

Most people are looking at Reggie Jackson at PG tonight, and I can't say I disagree. Even though the matchup is subpar, and he's coming off a 2OT game last night, he's still vastly underpriced. Lock him in.

Ricky Rubio costs a little more than Jackson, but he profiles as the 2nd best value play based on salary vs expected production. I have no problem eating the chalk and going with Jackson/Rubio at PG.

Goran Dragic and Mike Conley are two pivots off the most popular plays. I'm really liking Conley in this spot. Most people will shy away from him due to a dreadful performance last night, but I'm not afraid to buy some shares in this great matchup.

Langston Galloway is an intriguing pick that could replicate the production of Jackson for a cheaper salary. He obviously has a lower ceiling, but the minutes have been there, and it's tough to beat his price tag on FanDuel.

I'm not buying Kyle Lowry or Tony Parker tonight, as their range of outcomes are especially broad.

SHOOTING GUARD

Eric Bledsoe is generating the most buzz at SG. On a night with just a few legitimate SG options, it makes sense to “pay up" for Bledsoe.

Markel Brown is surprisingly generating the 2nd most buzz of the position, albeit considerably less than Bledsoe. He has been producing, and he's a decent salary cap relief option if you decide to go that route. I'm not finding him a necessity (value elsewhere) on DraftKings or FanDuel, but he fits nicely on DraftDay for minimum salary.

Of Kyle Korver, Danny Green, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, I find myself leaning towards the latter if going heading in that direction. KCP has a great price point on DraftKings.

I'm surprised Monta Ellis isn't generating more buzz at a scarce SG position. He's one of the better plays in this spot, given a decent matchup and Chandler Parsons' absence from the lineup. I'm leaning towards locking him in on cash games for FanDuel (great price, have to start 2 SG's).

SMALL FORWARD

Kawhi Leonard is one of the top plays of the night, and he should be a core piece of your lineup at a scarce SF position.

Luol Deng, Khris Middleton, and Andrew Wiggins all should approach value, and I'm leaning towards Deng of those three, but he's not a 100% necessity.

You could look towards PJ Tucker and DeMarre Carroll, but I'd rather secure Deng for cash games.

POWER FORWARD

Andrea Bargnani profiles as the favorite value play of the day. It's tough to fade him in this spot, given a boost in playing time and uptick in production. It's either him or Ersan Ilyasova in the PF value spots, and I'm leaning towards Bargnani (Ilyasova makes for a nice contrarian pick).

Derrick Favors is a solid cash game pick, and I'm buying into him tonight. He doesn't have a ton of profit potential, but he's a safe value placeholder. Greg Monroe and Zach Randolph fall into that same category, and I'd let price dictate my decision of the three – which has me landing on Favors more times than not.

Markieff Morris is a great tournament option, but beware the wide range of outcomes for cash games.

CENTER

Here we go again with the Rudy Gobert Express, as he's the most popular Center yet again. You could dig deeper in Marcin Gortat for salary relief, but Gobert is still the preferred pick and especially hard to fade in cash games. He has the best floor/ceiling combination of anyone at the position, and he's still vastly underpriced.

Alex Len and Gortat are good cheap plays, and I really like Len in tournaments on FanDuel. He's discounted over there ($5,100) and could put up 30 FP if he doesn't meet foul trouble.

Hassan Whiteside, Marc Gasol, and Al Horford are upper mid-range picks that profile well tonight, but I'm finding myself leaning towards one of the Gobert, Len, Gortat combination.
