Top Picks
Stephen Curry (PG), Warriors
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
at MIN | 35 | 1.33 | 17.7 | 32 | 39.33 | 109.5 | 46 |
Salary: FD: $10,700 DK: $10,600
A 3-game Thursday slate wouldn't be complete without the reigning MVP Curry. He is off to a blazing start this season, averaging 31.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 2.7 steals per contest. Tonight he squares off against Ricky Rubio (if he plays) and the T-Wolves, who rank in the top-10 in fewest FP allowed to opposing PG. On a full slate, you may be able to justify fading Curry in cash games, but not tonight. He is the clear-cut top option at the position.
Brandon Knight (PG), Suns
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
vs LAC | 36 | 0.96 | 19.6 | 24.4 | 41.82 | 103.75 | 33 |
Salary: FD: $6,700 DK: $7,000
Knight is easily the best mid-range value at the PG position on this short slate. He has been solid this season, scoring at least 34 FP in 5 of his last 6 contests. With Eric Bledsoe locking horns with Chris Paul tonight, Knight will draw the much easier matchup against Austin Rivers and Jordan Crawford with JJ Redick currently doubtful to play. You need to find some balanced plays somewhere, and Knight stands out as a great value with some upside.
Andrew Wiggins (SG/SF), Wolves
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
vs GSW | 36 | 0.77 | 20 | 31.6 | 37.7 | 101 | 30 |
Salary (SF): FD: $7,200 DK (SG): $6,400
Wiggins was a (very) late scratch last time out, but is expected to play tonight against the Warriors. Depending on the site, he can fill either your SG or SF spot, and provide you with a stable floor and big upside as well. He has averaged 32/4/3 over his last two contests, and Minnesota will need his offensive presence if they are going to compete tonight. With Ricky Rubio banged up, Wiggins will likely see a nice bump in usage even if Rubio suits up. Options are limited tonight, but Wiggins stands out, especially at his DK price.
Gordon Hayward (SF), Jazz
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
at MIA | 35 | 0.97 | 18.4 | 23.4 | 34.09 | 88.5 | 34 |
Salary: FD: $6,600 DK: $6,300
I'm not one to make a habit of targeting players in totals as low as this one, but Hayward stands out as a great cash game play on this short slate. He has between 29.75 and 34 FP in each of his last 3 contests, and has begun to look more and more like the well-balanced player we saw last season. His ceiling isn't enormous, but if he can post around 30 FP for you at his current price, you're paying for a very nice floor.
Blake Griffin (PF), Clippers
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
at PHO | 30 | 1.17 | 19.7 | 30.6 | 42.52 | 105.75 | 42 |
Salary: FD: $10,200 DK: $9,400
Last night's game was the first one where Griffin didn't reach the 40 FP plateau this season, and he draws a solid matchup against the Suns once again. In the first meeting this season, he posted a 22/10/2 line, and his usage rate this season has been top-10 in the NBA. He has one of the best floors and highest ceilings on tonight's slate. Make sure you get some exposure to him tonight.
Value Plays
Austin Rivers (PG/SG - LAC) FD: $3,500 DK: $3,100
Rivers had a solid game last night against the Mavericks (32.5 DK points), and will be thrust into a bigger role once again with JJ Redick listed as "doubtful". Rivers is minimum salary on FD and just $100 above the minimum mark on DK tonight, and will be a very popular value play, especially on DK at the SG position.
Nemanja Bjelica (SF - MIN) FD: $4,600 DK: $4,700
Bjelica has been a revelation for the Wolves, with 43.75, 23.75, and 30.75 FP in his last 3 contests. The matchup is less than ideal, but he may just be the most popular value play on this very short slate. Don't overthink this one. Slot him in to your cash game lineup and move on.
Markieff Morris (PF - PHO) FD: $5,800 DK: $5,900
There is a shortage of cheap plays on this short slate, so targeting a guy like "Chief Kieff" makes a lot of sense to help balance your lineup. He scored 32 FP against Blake Griffin (who rarely seems interested in playing defense) in their first matchup, and he's a safe bet to pencil in 25+ FP in just about any matchup.
