Tonight's slate details games that will be very good games to watch, but not so much of fantasy gold to say the least. Colorado will offer the most upside, but their best player (Josh Scott), who would have been a fine play tonight at his price on both sites is questionable. Him not playing really will open the door for others, but you probably won't have this news before Fanduel lineup lock. Even if news comes out that he will start, there is still serious risk there. There are only six games tonight offered on Fanduel's slate, but eight games are offered on Draftkings. If you like having more options, Draftkings should be your site of choice tonight. Outside of the Colorado game, six of the remaining seven games offered up tonight have a current betting line of 4 points or less. As, mentioned above, these games tonight should all be fun to watch games, but who just watches games for fun anymore? Small slates like tonight, I typically like to stick to just home guys, but we do have a few favored road teams in play. This being said, you'll be forced to play a few road guys tonight whether you want to or not. I'll provide you my top options for the primary six games (the ones offered on both FD and DK), so you can give yourself more rooting interest tonight.
High-Priced Plays
Jarrod Uthoff - Forward, Iowa. (FD Price $9,500, DK Price $9,100)
I will say that I am not in love with this price tonight, but on small slates like this you have to go with the safest players possible. Vegas sees this as a 1-2 point game tonight, and the only way Iowa keeps this close is if they get a big game from Uthoff. The other Iowa player to keep in mind is Peter Jok, but his price is not ideal on FD. On DK, Jok is certainly in play though. Uthoff should virtually play the entire game, and be more aggressive than usual. I like his ability to score tonight on IU who doesn't really neutralize bigs all that well, even though Uthoff is more of a hybrid big man anyway. The pace of this game will be very quick, and I love the stars on both sides of this game tonight.
Yogi Ferrell - Guard, Indiana. (FD Price $8,400, DK Price $8,200)
On paper, this is not exactly an ideal match-up for Yogi, but he is my favorite play tonight at this price for a few different reasons. If your just a box score guys, you will quickly realize that Yogi actually has better fantasy point averages at home vs. on the road in conference play. This isn't because he just so happens to like road games more, but because Indiana has needed him to be more aggressive in those road games which were closer games. At home, Indiana as had some blowouts and even games they were supposed to win big that Yogi was very passive in. I expect to see aggressive Yogi tonight, knowing how important this win is for IU. IU will need his shooting and ball handling for most, if not the entire game tonight and I love Yogi to surpass value.
Michael Gbinije - Guard, Syracuse. (FD Price $7,900, DK Price $8,300)
The recipe is pretty simple vs. Florida State and that recipe involves letting your guards to to work. Gbinije's price has dropped off recently on both sites due to a drop in production, but his lack of recent production doesn't scare me off of this match-up. Gbinije has great usage numbers, and he has a huge game coming. That huge game could very well be tonight, as guards just torch FSU. He proves great peripherals along with consistent scoring and makes for a fine play tonight. I also don't mind Malachi Richardson in this spot as well, as he is much cheaper, but his upside is not near of what Gbinije's is.
Mid-Priced Plays
Jaylen Brown/Ivan Rabb - Forward, California. (FD Price $7,800/$7,100, DK Price $8,000/$7,400)
California will be getting a tempo boost tonight playing Oregon, so there are opportunities for players to perform well here. There are actually quite a few low priced guys on California who have a good chance at making value tonight. I feel you'll need either Brown or Rabb in some of your lineups tonight, as at least one of these guys will exceed value, and even both have the change too. Foul trouble is always a potential issue with Brown and Rabb, and this is why I don't advise running both in the same lineup together. One of them typically gets in foul trouble which allows the other to get a usage bump. If both stay out of foul trouble, I do like them to reach value tonight.
Jaylen Bond - Forward, Temple. (FD Price $6,100, DK Price $5,900)
In very few scenarios in DFS, you have to just not even worry about how poor a match-up is if the price is right. Temple draws UConn tonight and should struggle overall to put the ball in the rim, but Bond normally has a 20+ point floor at home. On the road, he is very difficult to trust, and I never play him. When he is home, though at this price, he is virtually match-up proof. He obviously needs about 24 fps, but in conference play he has scored less than 20 fps a grand total of zero times. I don't expect many to trust him in this spot after his recent dud, but you can never rule out home/road splits in DFS.
