Vegas Projected Win Total - 7.5

The 4-12 Jets surprised nobody in 2014, as they were expected to be among the league's worst. A 7.5 win total is a wild guess for anyone with Geno Smith going another year as a starter. Ryan Fitzpatrick also is in play this season if the Jets give Smith a short leash. If Fitz ends up being a starter, a 7.5 win total could be achievable. The Jets defense signed one of their previous franchise players, Darrelle Revis, who was off in New England for a stint getting a Super Bowl ring. The 2014 Jets were a heavy run based offense, ranking 4th in the league in rushing attempts. New York also ranked 30th in yards per play. (5.0) Brandon Marshall was traded from Chicago to the Big Apple this offseason, for basically nothing. He will team up with Eric Decker, and second-round draft pick Devin Smith, to round out very solid receiving core for whoever is under center. There is a crowded backfield emerging in New York with Chris Ivory, Steven Ridley, and Zac Stacy all capable of handling carries. This will be an interesting situation to keep an eye on, but it looks like it will be Ivory's job to lose. For ranking in the bottom ten in most offensive categories, outside of rushing, in 2014, the Jets have some upside. New York have a solid offensive line, receiving core, and steady platoon of running backs. The one thing missing is stability at the quarterback position. A lot will depend on whoever is managing the games for the Jets worth in daily fantasy.

Impact Fantasy Players

Brandon Marshall - Marshall will make his final stop of his career in New York, as he says the Jets will be the last team he plays for. He certainly knows how to go out on top. Marshall missed the final three games of the season, finishing for 721 yards and eight scores. This was the first time he finished under 1,000 receiving yards since his rookie campaign, even though he missed three games, he would of flirted with the cutline anyway. Marshall will definitely take a consistency hit this season, as the Jets are planning to start Geno Smith this season. Whether he lasts or not is the question. Marshall will benefit either way, if Smith keeps the starting job, it means he is throwing the ball well. If he loses the job, Fitzpatrick will come in and be a much more stabler option for Marshall each week. The big 6'4 wideout should see plenty of targets from both QB's, being a reliable pass catcher, and seasoned veteran.

Eric Decker - Decker was one of the few bright spots for the Jets last season, and there wasn't much of a bar set for bright spots, ranking 26th in the league in passing yards. (962) He also found the end zone five times. The Jets ranked 27th in passing attempts last season, and now with Marshall in town, his 115 targets from 2014 should take a drop. Like other teams, this will create a guessing game week-to-week to find the guy who will lead the team in targets. The face that there are not many targets to go around will take the Jets out of play most weeks in the passing game. Like I said earlier, if Fitzpatrick finds himself a starter for most of the season, Decker and Marshall will have more value.

Chris Ivory - Ivory had a lot of success on the ground last season for the Jets, but failed to reach over 200 attempts, with Chris Johnson snagging 155 attempts. He rushed for 4.1 yards per carry, and found the end zone six times. Unfortunately a lot has circled around camp this offseason of the Jets splitting carries between their backs. New York signed Steven Ridley, and landed Zac Stacy from St. Louis after the draft. This could be a very clogged backfield, and quite a pain to deal with when picking a running back for the week. If there is anyone to come out of the backfield, it will likely be Ivory has the leading points getter, but it will likely be mediocre production.

Impact Fantasy Rookies

Devin Smith - The Ohio State product drew comparisons to Desean Jackson, and mainly due to his speedy home run threat. He is expected to grab the WR3 spot in the Jets core this season, making him a possible home run guy for GPP's. It is a long shot, especially in the Jets offense, but still a mentionable athlete. There are a few rough spots in his game, like catching the ball, as well has route running issues, but the kid is a burner.

Storylines

The offseason has brought in a lot of players to take away targets and touches from 2014's Jets fantasy players. This is concerning due to the lack of consistency at the quarterback position for wide receivers. As for the running backs, we should see at least one emerge as an average option to take each week, but that is also not for certain. There are a lot of stocks that were already questionable last season, taking a nose dive into 2015.

Stock Watch

Down - Chris Ivory

When given the opportunity, Chris Ivory has managed to be a nice fantasy option in the backfield. The problem has been figuring out his touches, and that looks like the case again in 2015. New York signed Steven Ridley, and traded for Zac Stacy, already adding to Ivory and Powell. A lot of reports are suggesting a committee rushing attack will take place.

Down - Brandon Marshall & Eric Decker

Unless there is a massive turn around in the passing game, and the Jets start throwing the ball down the field, neither one of these two will be trustworthy options this season. There might be an occasional week for a GPP play, but nothing more than that. The targets were already very limited last season, and throwing Marshall into the mix will only take away from both.

Daily Fantasy Outlook

The Jets most used player this season will likely be their team defense. They have the looks of a top ten defense, and have a very favorable schedule to use them on certain weeks. Outside of that, they have a messy quarterback and running back situation. The wide receiver core has upside depending if a quarterback gets their act together, or else you can toss them in the do not use bin with the rest of them. The Jets have very little to offer to the daily fantasy world this season.
