Each week we will be covering two top stacks, a value stack, and a contrarian stack. Playing two or more players from the same team can add to your ceiling, especially if that team goes off. Stacking is a great way to get an advantage in tournaments, and even cash games. We will narrow down projected fantasy points, ownership, and info for their matchups.
Contrarian Stack
Saints at Buccaneers - Team Total 28.75
Name | Position | FanDuel Salary | DraftKings Salary | Estimated Ownership % | Projected Points |
Saints D/ST | D/ST | $4,600 | $3,300 | 0-5 | 7.10 (DK), 7.10 (FD) |
RB | $8,800 | $7,900 | 5-10 | 20.29 (DK), 17.43 (FD)
Mark Ingram | RB | $8,400 | $7,500 | 5-10 | 19.64 (DK), 17.74 (FD) |
While the Saints as a whole won't be a contrarian stack this weekend due to their massive total, one of my favorite moves this week is to throw the clock back a few weeks to the RB/RB/D stack for New Orleans. The Saints have plenty to play for, as they are looking to hold off the Panthers and clinch the NFC South. They could end up as high as the 3 seed and get a home game next weekend, or drop as low as the 5 and have to start the playoffs on the road. The Saints have had a ton of success this season rolling out their duo of backs and dominating possession, and this weekend should be no different against a Bucs team that FO ranks 21st against the run and 21st against receiving backs. The Brees/Thomas stack could be a popular one as well, but Thomas has eclipsed the 20-point mark on FD just once this season, and is the fourth-most expensive WR on the board. That's not to say that he can't reach that plateau this weekend, but I'll be throwing my top-end money elsewhere in my stacks.
Value Stack
49ers at Rams - Team Total 21.5
Name | Position | FanDuel Salary | DraftKings Salary | Estimated Ownership % | Projected Points |
QB | $7,700 | $6,700 | 0-5 | 16.11 (DK), 16.01 (FD)
Carlos Hyde | RB | $6,900 | $4,900 | 0-5 | 14.51 (DK), 12.56 (FD) |
Marquise Goodwin | WR | $6,900 | $6,600 | 5-10 | 12.47 (DK), 10.42 (FD) |
The Rams will either be the 3 or 4 seed in the playoffs, and a division title has already locked up at least one home game for Todd Gurley and company. The 49ers, on the other hand, were looking like a contender for the #2 pick a few weeks ago, but with Tom Brady, Jr. AKA Jimmy Garoppolo, under center, they have rattled off four straight wins. Jimmy G and company have been a lot of fun to watch over that span, and despite the low team total, there is upside to be had here. Hyde had a monster game in the first meeting between these two teams (94 total yards and two scores), and he could be a nice contrarian option this week against a Los Angeles defense that FO ranks 18th against the run. With Goodwin coming off a tough outing against Jacksonville (and rightfully so), he shouldn't draw much ownership here either against the #3 pass defense in the NFL, per FO.
Top Stack 1
Patriots vs Jets - Team Total 30
Name | Position | FanDuel Salary | DraftKings Salary | Estimated Ownership % | Projected Points |
Tom Brady | QB | $8,500 | $6,800 | 5-10 | 21.06 (DK) 20.96 (FD) |
Dion Lewis | RB | $7,200 | $6,800 | 10-15 | 15.19 (DK), 13.99 (FD) |
Rob Gronkowski | TE | $8,500 | $7,000 | 5-10 | 17.73 (DK), 15.03 (FD) |
All aboard the Patriots train once again this week! As alluded to earlier, the Steelers are the only team with a chance to take away the Pats' home-field advantage. With a ridiculous spread of 15 points, there is a very real possibility that this game is well in hand by halftime. With that said, we have seen Belichick leave his starters out there for much, much longer than he rightfully should at times, so the upside is certainly still there for this bunch. The Jets rank 23rd against the pass and 12th against the run, and although Dion Lewis has asserted himself as the lead back once again, there is a jam of players behind him this week with "Questionable" designations, so keep an eye on that. If you're not quite comfortable with targeting the Pats with a massive total, can I interest you in the Seahawks in a must-win situation against Arizona? The Cards defense has been tremendous of late, but with matchups against the Redskins, Giants, and Titans, those numbers looks to be misleading. Fire up your 'Hawks as a nice pivot off of the Pats. Or just play Russell Wilson. Good luck in Week 17!
