Forecasting Analysis

Last Updated: 6:05 pm EDT

Current radar:

*********NOTHING BELOW IS UPDATED********

TEX@NYY

A few thunderstorms will be near the Tri-State area this evening. This is what the radar near scheduled 1st pitch should look like:

A broken line of thunderstorms, much like what the radar and simulated radars show, will head into the Tri-State area this evening. Not too concerning right now. LOW CHANCE OF PPD; LOW TO MAYBE MODERATE CHANCE OF IN-GAME DELAY(S)

NYM@WSH

The same feature impacting the Yankees may also play a role in the Nation's Capital as the Nationals host the Mets. Here is what the radar should look like near scheduled 1st pitch:

We can see a couple of thunderstorm cells are moving through the Capital region. If this timing is correct, a delayed start may be in order. This game looks to carry more risk than the game to the north in NYC.

9 PM simulated radar:

Seems like the most recent model trends is to hold on to the rain a bit longer, until about 8:45-9 PM. That increases the PPD risk a bit.

LOW TO MODERATE THREAT OF PPD; MODERATE THREAT FOR ANY TYPE OF DELAY(S)

CLE@ATL

Heavy thunderstorms are expected to stay west of ATL this evening....but they are too close for comfort! Simulated radar at 7 PM:

Heavy thunderstorms are heading slowly southeast, very slowly. Because the models have had a consistent handle on these thunderstorms, and because the radar and simulated radar are showing the same thing, the individual thunderstorm cells out ahead of the main line are what is most worrisome. Individual thunderstorm cells like these are almost impossible to place so we just look at the coverage of them. Looks like a good 30-40% coverage to me so that adds risk to this game. LOW TO MAYBE MODERATE CHANCE OF PPD, MODERATE CHANCE OF SOME SORT OF DELAY(S)
