DraftKings Optimal Lineup: NFL Week 1

Using the lineup optimizer with no filters, and cash game projections set, I got this enticing lineup. Even though it looks like I saved a stack, with those Packers, this was all unfiltered. The Packers offense is capable of handling a QB/RB/WR stack. The Packers have a 28 point total, and face one of the league's worst defenses. The Miami Dolphins are tied for the third highest point total for away teams, facing another awful defense. With Jarvis Landry and Lamar Miller sitting below $6,000, they come in as two of my favorite value plays this week. The optimizer is still on the Blue pick, but it does free up plenty of space for Calvin Johnson. My defense swap will be in play again, swapping the Jets at the same price. If there is any team to lean heavily on, it is the Packers.

Using GPP projections in this lineup, the optimizer moved away from Rodgers, but not the other two, and understandably. Sam Bradford is a great value QB play, which frees up space to upgrade Delanie Walker, and Alfred Blue. Chris Ivory is a great value back, who is expected to have a heavy workload. The Miami value plays are still in the picture, and Calvin Johnson to Dez Bryant is the other big change. Bryant came away with 27 DraftKings points in both starts against the Giants last year, and we know the upside he brings each week. While I like Johnson to have a big week, I am not sure if he can rival Dez's possible upside, at least for week one. The Giants-Cowboys game has a big total, which the optimizer has targeted a few times. I don't mind the Texas defense, but it is really hard for me to get away from the Jets.

I am a little iffy on Rodgers as my cash game QB. The Packers should be ahead early and I can see them handing off to Lacy most of the game. Rodgers will no doubt do damage but how often will he be allowed to air it out?

I think Rodgers is a safe play either way, but there are a lot of enticing cheaper options.
