TE Punts Week 3

For this week I went looking for TE Punts at $2200 and under. At this price point you are likely going to get two results. One is a huge game from a high ceiling player who has a greater chance to put up zero points or a couple of points from a player who is not likely to give you more than that. I wanted to focus on these two types of players at different ends of the spectrum. The low floor/high ceiling player and the high floor/low ceiling player.

The first player I wanted to discuss is North Carolina's freshman Brandon Fritts. He is the ultimate boom or bust type player only coming into this week with 3 catches for 11 yards. The trick with Fritts is he has two touchdowns on those three receptions and they all came in the same game. With his 6-4 220lbs frame he will continue to be a red-zone threat and the Tar Heels are a team that traditionally likes to use their tight end. Fritts does share the position with Senior Kendrick Singleton but is priced at only $2200. If he is able to find pay dirt at that price you have a lot of room to work with at your other skill positions.

On the other end of the spectrum you have Ryan Malleck who is Virginia Tech's check down option for their backup quarterback Brenden Motley. Last year Malleck was steady with 24 catches, 195 yards and two scores. This young season he has 6 catches for 59 yards and a score. Once again not great numbers but steady for a player who is the site minimum.

Which do you prefer when spending less than $2200 on a tight end, the ultimate boom or bust player or the player that will score you two points?

Boom or bust for sure, I haven't taken a look at tight ends due to playing on DK, but once I am out of AZ in a month, I can log back into FD.

I use to say I would only punt for TE but this year looks to be a year to pay up. There are plenty of great ones this year. I am with you though when I punt I go boom or bust.
