New York Jets (-1, 40.5) at Buffalo Bills

Buffalo DvP Ranks- QB (19), RB (15), WR (25), TE (5)

NY Jets DvP Ranks- QB (8), RB (2), WR (18), TE (4)

For those playing the Thursday night slate, some words of wisdom:

  • 1)Teams are playing on short rest which leads to less preparation for the respective teams to game plan against each other

  • 2)In Thursday games, history shows that QB and WR FPPG (Fantasy Points per Game) are drastically lower than games on the weekend

  • 3)More often than not, the games go under the respective implied total

  • 4)Ownership is usually inflated on Thursday games with many players being higher owned than they should

This game originally opened up as Buffalo Bills -2.5 and a total of 42.5. There has been lots of line movement with the total dropping a full 2 points and then line switching 3.5 points. This does not surprise me although 40.5 is one of the lowest totals for games this week. One thing to watch is the injury status of Sammy Watkins. As of now, he is listed as questionable with an injury to the same foot that kept him out of most of last season. Even if he is playing, I would be fine inserting the Jets D into lineups. If he is out, lock and load the Jets defense. I would stay away from the skill position players, namely Tyrod Taylor and LeSean McCoy. On the other side of the ball, it was interesting to see how many touches Matt Forte got in Week 1. Going into the season, it was believed Bilal Powell would share more of the workload. However, Forte dominated the backfield touches. In the passing game, you have the same players as usual with Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker get most of the targets from Ryan Fitzpatrick. Buffalo was ranked 25th against WR last year which looks appealing, but with the low total and it being a Thursday night game, I would prefer to probably fade them altogether. In general, the only piece I would consider playing would be the Jets defense but this could one of those weeks when you it's a grind it out game with a slow pace. I would suggest playing the Thursday slate and just fade the game completely.
