Recap

What an exciting finish that was! You had roughly 25 guys within 5 shots of the lead at the start on Sunday. For awhile, it was Rodger's tournament, but then Bryson came out of nowhere on the back nine. At the end, Bryson made birdie on 18 while Rodger made bogey on 17 and that is what helped Bryson to win his first PGA tour title. For DraftKings, I had another weekend sweat, however, not as good as the week before. I just didn't have enough guys in the top 10. Overall, another solid week for the core! Let's keep it rolling for the third major of the season!

This Week

We are headed to Royal Birkdale for The Open championship, located in Southport, UK. The course is a par 70 and 7,156 yards. It's near the coast line and it will be difficult to judge what the weather will be like by lineup lock. I will definitely look into players who plays well in the wind and for sure to pay attention on the weather. I might like the 4 players that I will be writing about now, however, if the wind plays a factor and if the four guys are going to be in a bad draw, there's a possibility that I might not play them. The stats that I'm looking for this week are, B.O.B. %; SG: Approach The Green; SG: Around The Green; and Bogey Avoidance.

Core

Sergio Garcia ($10,600) – Garcia should be very popular this week, despite the weather. He's the 5th cheapest player at the top and with 3 top 6 finishes in the last 3 years at The Open, there should be no reason to fade him. His stats are still consistent and is one of the best in the field for what I'm looking for this week. He's 25th in the field for B.O.B.% (27th); 35th in the field for SG: Approach The Green (53rd); 11th in the field for SG: Around The Green (18th); and he's 12th in the field for Bogey Avoidance. With a little break after finishing 2nd at the BMW, he should be fresh and ready to go for this week.

Rickie Fowler ($9,200) – Fowler has been very consistent and has definitely improve with his approach shots from last year. Coming into this week, he's 2ndoverall, right behind Jordan Spieth. Fowler is 4th in the field for B.O.B. % (4th); 8th in the field for SG: Approach The Green (8th); 25th in the field for SG: Around The Green (36th); and he's 7th in the field for Bogey Avoidance (9th). With another good showing at the Scottish Open last week, finishing T9, he should be another popular pick, next to Garcia. Also, with good history within the last 3 years at The Open, including a tied for 2nd in 2014, he should be the highest owned golfer this week.

Marc Leishman ($7,800) – I really like Leishman this week. He's sandwich between Paul Casey and Ian Poulter, who will get the bulk of the ownership in this price range, and he has one of the better stats overall with good history at The Open. In the last 3 attempts in The Open, he has 2 top 5 finishes, including a T2 in 2015. For stats, he's 30th in the field for B.O.B. % (32nd); 26th in the field for SG: Approach The Green (36th); 30th in the field for SG: Around The Green (45th); and he's 21st in the field for Bogey Avoidance (25th). With a 5th place finish at the Quicken Loans and with good stats and good history coming in, he will be my dark horse for this week.

Bill Haas ($6,600) – With his upside of getting inside the top 10, he will be a nice anchor for the core. For stats, he's 52nd in the field for B.O.B. % (99th); 28th in the field for SG: Approach The Green (40th); 7th in the field for SG: Around The Green (11th); and he's tied for 1st in the field with Paul Casey for Bogey Avoidance. He's made his last 2 cuts, including a 13th at the Quicken Loans. He recorded his first top 10 in a major last year at The Open with a T9 finish, and has a top 5 finish at The U.S. Open this year. He could be a nice sleeper pick to win The Open.

Exposure

For this week, I'm going to normal exposure with my core. I like to have my four guys set between 40-60%. If you like to play the 3 entry max gpps, I would just rotate your core around and add about 6-8 players to complete your player pool. For multi entry, including the milly maker, I would set a max exposure for your core at 60% and pick around 15-20 golfers for your player pool. That way if your core hits, then you will have a really good chance of having a nice payday! Which, at the end of the day, that is what we're all trying to achieve!

Good luck everyone!
