Playing Conway Farms GC (BMW Championship)
The Tour moves on to the third leg of the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs with the BMW Championship, hosted by Conway Farms GC. The BMW Championship became what used to be the Western Open. Outside of Major Championships, the Western Open was one of, if not the most prestigious tournament on the tour schedule for many years. It is the second longest running tournament in the United States, and still holds much acclaim. Having run for so long, the spectators are generally a very good golf crowd, and I'm sure you will hear that on the telecast several times this weekend. The last time the BMW was held at Conway Farms, Zach Johnson was crowned champion. Heading into this week, Jason Day holds a small lead over Jordan Spieth, followed by Ricky Fowler, Henrick Stenson and Bubba Watson.
The most surprising player in the top ten has got to be Charlie Hoffman, who with his play at the Duetsche Bank Championship, vaulted himself all the way up to 6th place. Hoffman has had some great results this year, although the most memorable will most likely be the first round lead he held on Thursday at the Masters. Once the playoffs progress to the third stage, virtually any player inside the top 30 has a chance to win the ten million dollar prize and the fame that comes with being named Fed Ex Cup Champion.
