The First Tee at the Dean and Deluca Invitational (Colonial CC)

Just as he likes to do from time to time, Sergio Garcia reminded us all this past weekend why he is undoubtedly the best player having never won a major. Garcia outlasted Brooks Koepka, a player who I had pegged to win his 2nd career tournament before the end of the season. The two went to battle in a playoff, however Garcia proved to be the more experienced player in that format, capitalizing on a wild Koepka tee shot and making par to win is second career Byron Nelson. If it is hard to read that last sentence, believe me it was even harder to write. Sergio was one of my top picks, and even then I wrote about Garcia's inability to close out tournaments, but his consistent finishes in the top three make him a viable fantasy stud. Koepka shot 65-64-65 before falling off with a 71 on Sunday. He showed a much more controlled game, while also crushing the ball off the tee and finding a large amount of fairways for the week. Veteran Matt Kuchar finished in solo 3rd, while Colt Knost and Spencer Levin tied for 4th at -13. Of all the players who turned out to be landmines, Scott Piercy my clear cut choice. After shooting -5 on Thursday, Piercy couldn't hit greens and when that happened he couldn't scramble to make pars. He is a somewhat risky pick this week, but I am not counting him just yet
