The First Tee at The Tour Championship (East Lake GC)

A big congrats to Dustin Johnson, who went out and won the third leg of the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs, the BMW Championship. By doing so, Johnson now becomes the odds on favorite of winning the Fed Ex Cup Championship, which would cap off a dream season for him after capturing his first major championship at the US Open. DJ was spectacular at the BMW, finishing the tournament at (-23), three shots clear of 2nd place, six shots clear of 3rd place, and an astonishing 11 shots clear of 4th place. He showed what happens when he is at his absolute best, he laps the field even when the best players in the world are in attendance. Aside from DJ, Paul Casey finished in 2nd place, the second consecutive tournament where he achieved that feat. With his 2nd place finish, Casey moved himself into the top 5 in the FEC Standings, which means he, like the other four players in front of him (DJ, Patrick Reed, Adam Scott and Jason Day) all control their own destiny. If any of the five prevail at East Lake, they will win the FEC outright, and the ten million dollars that goes along with it.

The Field

For the third consecutive week, the field has been thinned from the previous tournament. The top 30 players in the FEC standings move onto East Lake GC, with the winner of the playoffs taking home the biggest prize in professional golf…10 Million smackeroos.
