Recap
Wow! What a week! If you had the four guys I suggested then you'd probably did pretty good as well. A HUGE thank you to Brendan Steele for sticking it out and finishing his first round. After making a 9 on the 14th, his 5th hole of the day, he was +7 through 8. Now, most guys probably would've called it quits or just a WD after that, not Steele. He fought back and made the cut and finished inside the top 15! Now that is heroic! Congrats to him and to Rickie for winning The Honda Classic!
This Week
We are in Mexico this week for the WGC – Mexico Championship. The course is called Club De Golf Chapultepec. It's 7,330 yards and it's a par 71. You have everyone, other than Jason Day, inside the top 50 in the world and everyone in the top 10 in the FedEx cup standings. Rory is coming back from his rib injury that had him sidelined for almost 6 weeks. This is a no cut event, so everyone will have 4 rounds to play. The stats that I'm looking at are recent form; G.I.R.; and driving accuracy.
Core
Henrik Stenson ($10,300) – Stenson is going to be my first guy on the list. He has 5 top 10s in his last 5 starts. His ball striking is off the charts! Both his G.I.R. and driving accuracy is around 80%! At the top, he is the best guy with the stats that I'm looking at for this week.
Jason Dufner ($8,100) – Dufner hasn't played that much this year, however, he's getting into form. The last two tournaments he played, he finished 25th and 14th. He is also a very consistent iron player. He is hitting his greens at 65% and hitting his fairways at 64%.
Brendan Steele ($7,900) – Yes, I'm going back to him. With a no cut, he is one of those players where you can pick and don't have to worry on Friday if he's in or not. For his recent form, he has 4 top 20s in his last 5 events, including last week. Just like Dufner, he's consistent with his irons. He's hitting 70% in greens in regulation and 64% in driving accuracy.
Martin Kaymer ($7,500) – Kaymer has always been a consistent player from tee to green. Recently, he's been hitting his greens at 73% and his fairways at 68%. For his recent form, he has 2 top 10s in his last 4. With a good showing last week, he could be my dark horse for this week.
Exposure
For my exposure, I'm going to go a little more aggressive. Lately, I've been setting my exposures around 40-60%. For this week, I'm going to set it around 60-75%. That way, if my core happens to finish high on the leaderboard, then I have a good chance of having a nice payday! Which, at the end of the day, is what we're all trying to achieve!
Good luck everyone!
