Goalies

Martin Jones (G), Sharks

After a hot start to the season, Martin Jones has allowed eight goals in his last two starts, which should keep his ownership lower than what it should be. He is a quality goalie, facing the Hurricanes who were just blanked last night by the Kings. Carolina generates about 30 shots a game, giving high upside to opposing goalies. The Sharks are big time favorites, and Carolina is not favored to score more than two goals. Jones is cheap on both sites, and can free up a ton of salary for you skaters, which there are plenty to pay up for tonight. I will roll the dice on Jones, hoping he can regain form against the Hurricanes.

Top Skaters

Vladimir Tarasenko (W), Blues

The Blues are taking on a pretty poor defensive team, who are on the second night of a back-to-back. Islanders rank 23rd in goals against, and are allowing about 33 shots a game. Vladimir Tarasenko is highly priced, but is a guy I want exposure to this evening. Tarasenko ranks 5th in points this season, with nine, and he has already racked up 32 shots on goal. Look for the Blues top two lines to be sole producers of an abundance of goals.

Nathan MacKinnon (C), Avalanche

The Blue Jackets have surely locked up the team to stack opposing teams against every night, and on this day it is the Colorado Avalanche. Columbus is allowing 4.63 goals a game, and we saw last night a stack pay off against them, with the Habs. Colorado has plenty of offensive fire power, starting with Nathan MacKinnon, who has six points in six games. Note that Gabriel Landescog and Alex Tanguay are worth pairing up as well.

P.K. Subban (D), Canadiens

Although Andrei Markov was the talk of the town with five points last night, P.K. Subban racked up three of his own, as the Habs decimated Columbus. Subban has unbelievable upside every night, and is a player that should find his way into your lineups. Montreal is scoring 3.75 goals a game, and Subban is on the end of most of them, with eight points this season. He has had two three assist games already this year, with one coming against Toronto earlier this season.

Jamie Benn (W), Stars

The price could scare people away, especially on FanDuel, but the Stars first line is unbelievably talented. Jaime Benn is already off to a hot start this season, with 10 points, and six of those finding the net himself. Dallas has an excellent power play unit, converting at 30%, which Benn is a part of. Florida is just killing off 76% of power plays, ranking 23rd. Expect the Stars to put up their share of goals tonight.

Value Plays

Artemi Panarin (W - CHI) FD: $3,400 DK: $4,700

Both sites have not adjusted Artemi Panarin's price this season, despite him playing on the second line and the first power play unit, and having eight points in six games. Get this guy in your lineup, without sacrificing much for his price.

Erik Johnson (D - COL) FD: $4,600 DK: $4,700

I like Erik Johnson with the shot of him possibly having the upside of a multi-point night. For one, he is facing a bad Columbus team, and he is on the first line. He also commands the second power play unit. Johnson will float around value with shots on goal, and block shots. I believe he will be very low owned, but has the matchup for a breakout night.

Valtteri Filppula (C - TB) FD: $5,100 DK: $3,500

I am looking more at Filppula on DraftKings, with him being on the top power play unit. Even with him dropping down lines, he is still surrounded by talent on an incredibly deep Lightning team. He has a shot to grab a point, but mainly is a solid salary relief play.

Tomas Hertl (W - SJ) FD: $4,000 DK: $4,300

This second line winger is a cheap value play, and the Sharks sit as an overlooked offense tonight. Carolina is allowing 2.86 goals per game, and have trouble killing off penalties. Hertl plays on the second line of the power play, which should get plenty of looks tonight.
