This is a very risky pick, and I am looking to counter all the Ducks' players that will be owned tonight. Joonas Korpisalo has been hot, winning six of his last nine games started, while posting a 1.96 GAA in that span. He has monster upside due to the poor defense in front of him, as he has seen 33 shots on average in the last ten games. Columbus has allowed the 6th most shots per game, while Anaheim generates the 9th most. Korpisalo is in for a big night, or can drop a complete dud. We saw that with Edmonton the other night. Even in a loss, Korpisalo has worth in tournaments given the high shots faced. The Ducks are red-hot, so I can understand not wanting to pull the trigger here. Outside of Braden Holtby, there are not too many safe options. You can look at Steve Mason as well.

Claude Giroux flies under the radar on big slates, which is why I like him as someone to truly set yourself apart from the field. He has ten points in the last ten games, and gets an above average home matchup against Buffalo. They rank 21st in goals allowed per game, and have the 14th ranked penalty killing percentage. With Tyler Seguin and John Tavares in tougher matchups, they should still eat up some ownership, but are not on my radar. Joe Pavelski should be one of the higher owned centers on the night, of course with Conner McDavid, who are both in play.

Brent Burns has cooled off in the last few games, and his price has dropped on FanDuel. I really like the price difference from Erik Karlsson there if you are looking to be different. He is still your highest priced defenseman on DraftKings, so the risk is always there. Look for him to bounce back tonight with a matchup against the Flames. He has posted three points against them in three games this season, and will get a chance to light up that poor powerplay killing percentage. (76%) Burns is always a high-upside play, but does come with a heavy price tag for a defenseman.

Mentioned in our stacking article, Ottawa's powerplay unit despite being ranked 23rd, has plenty of upside in tonight's matchup. Colorado ranks 22nd in PK%, and rank 23rd in powerplay goals allowed. Stone has gone back down to the second line, which is still a solid place for him, but remains on the top powerplay unit. He has eight points since the all-star break. We have been on the Ottawa stretch here with their recent opponents struggling defensively. We will get another one tonight against Colorado, and you can fire away with Kyle Turris and Bobby Ryan as well.

We know about Connor McDavid already, but since he has come back, Jordan Eberle has four goals and two assists. (5 games) This second line should be popular, but Jordan Eberle is likely to be lesser owned than the other Oilers tonight. Toronto ranks 24th in goals allowed per game, and have an average PK%. Edmonton have put up big points since the all-star break, mainly because they are getting healthy, and the matchups have been in their favor.

Value Plays

Joe Thornton (C - SJ) FD: $6,200 DK: $5,400

Joe Thornton is way underpriced for his recent play and matchup tonight. He has 13 points in the last ten games, five of those coming in the last three games. He gets a very friendly matchup with Calgary tonight at home, who has has four points in three games against this season. Thornton also headlines the top powerplay unit with our boy Brent Burns above.

Leo Komerov (C/W - TOR) FD: $4,600 DK: $4,300

A lot of people will be on Edmonton tonight, myself included. Toronto's top line is very cheap on both sites, going up against a team who allows three goals per game. I prefer Leo Komerov due to a cheaper Michael Grabner due to him playing on the powerplay. However all are in play tonight, and should be fairly low-owned. You can combine this line with a high priced line no problem.

Dion Phaneuf (D - OTT) FD: $4,700 DK: $4,600

After a 40-man-trade, Dion Phaneuf has landed in Ottawa, and has been paired with Erik Karlsson on the powerplay. Phaneuf should see a bump in production with his new line-mates, especially on the man advantage. Colorado ranks 23rd in powerplay goals allowed, and 22nd in penalty killing percentage. I love the price on both sites, although the +/- might hurt you a bit here on FanDuel.

David Pastrnak (W - BOS) FD: $3,600 DK: $4,000

David Pastrnak has seven points in the last nine games, and continues to be a cheap punt play. He is near bare-minimum on both sites, and gets a very friendly matchup with Winnipeg tonight. The Jets have allowed 2.8 goals per game, ranking 25th in the NHL. A breakout game is coming due to the increase in minutes, so it very well could be tonight.
