The Chalk

Alex Ovechkin $10,200/ LW $9,400 / W 10-15%
Nicklas Backstrom $6,200 / C $6,600 / C 13-18%
TJ Oshie $6,000 / RW $6,000 / W 10-15%

The Caps have the best match up of the night to exploit, with a home showdown against the Jets. Ovechkin and Backstrom were reunited recently, and haven't missed a beat. The Caps 7th ranked power play (21%) gets to face the team that has given up the most power play goals and opportunities this season. Their power play will have chances to cash in all game, and it will be very hard for the Jets to keep them off the score sheet. In just over 29 minutes together on the ice this season, this line has a ridiculous Corsi For % (CF%) of 65% (via Puckalytics), meaning they've been generating offense at ease. Due to their pricing, Backstrom and Oshie also make exceptional cash game plays. John Carlson shares power play time with this trio, and is one of the top d man plays of the night.

Brock Nelson $5,800/ LW $4,200 / C 10-15%
John Tavares $9,800 / C $8,100 / C 10-15%
Kyle Okposo $6,400 / RW $6,000 / W 6-11%

One of the hottest lines in hockey gets a great home match up tonight against the Flyers. Over their last ten games, this trio has combined for six goals, and they all see power play time together on the #1 unit. If you are looking to play that whole unit, defenceman Nick Leddy and center Frans Nielsen are the other two pieces. The Islanders power play hasn't been on fire this year, but the Flyers are ranked in the bottom half of the league in penalty kill percentage, and have given up the 4th most power play goals with 16. Nelson will be a lock for cash games on Draftkings for his price, with points in five of his last six games, including three multi point games. Steve Mason should expect to see lots of rubber from the Isles tonight, as in games he's started for the Flyers this season, they've averaged 31.92 shots on net, 4th highest for any goaltender.

Taylor Hall $9,400/ LW $6.900 / W 10-15%
Leon Draisaitl $3,200 / C $4,100 / C 20-25%
Teddy Purcell $4,200 / RW $3,500 / W 0-5%

I'm not sure what algorithm Fanduel uses, but they might need to re-think it. Draisatl has been an auto cash game play on both sites for weeks now, as he is priced like a 4th line grinder, not a highly productive first line center. I don't like Halls price on Fanduel at all, but this line will be a staple for me on Draftkings. Draisatl and Hall both have points in five of their last six games. They both play on the #1 power play unit as well, with Oscar Klefbom and Jordan Eberle, who are also great plays tonight. The Hurricanes have the 26th ranked penalty kill, and some of the worst goal tending in the NHL. Cam Ward is expected to play tonight, but whether it's him or Eddie Lack, it won't matter. Both are ranked near the bottom of the entire league in adjusted save percentage (via War On Ice). Lacks adjusted save percentage is actually the 4th worst in the league at 89.29%, so if he is confirmed over Ward, I like the Oilers even more. Carolina may have heavy legs tonight, as this will be their 4th game in six nights.

Marcus Johansson $4,500/ LW $4,200 / C 0-5%
Evgeny Kuznetsov $5,900 / C $5,700 / C 3-8%
Justin Williams $4,900 / RW $4,800 / W 0-5%

I like this line for a lot of the same reasons as the Ovechkin line, and they come at a much cheaper price. Kuznetsov hasn't seem much of a dip in his production since being moved to the 2nd line, and all three players on this line see power play time. Johansson plays on the first unit, but Kuz and Williams play on the second unit with Jason Chimera, Dmitri Orlov and Matt Niskanen. Orlov is priced dirt cheap on both sites, and is actually riding a three game point streak.

Filip Forsberg $7,000/ LW $5,500 / 7-12%
Mike Ribeiro $5,400 / C $3,500 / C 0-5%
James Neal $6,400 / RW $6,300 / W 7-12%

One of my favorite lines to play from last season was re-united recently, and are priced way too low for their upside. I was hoping to see mega sieve Chad Johnson in net for the Sabres, but it's actually Linus Ullmark tonight. There isn't a huge drop off to Johnson, but when he's in net, I always like to target the other team. Buffalo has been atrocious on the penalty kill this year at 73.6%, good for second last in the league. For value plays on Nashville, Craig Smith, Colin Wilson and Mike Fisher are all solid plays. Even though Fisher is off the top line, he's still being used as a net presence on the first unit power play. Roman Josi and Shea Weber both make fantastic plays if your are going to pay up on D tonight.
