NFL Schedule 2017

The revealing of NFL Schedules has been a mini holiday in Spring. Each team has eight home games, and eight away. They also have Bye Weeks, which is one week per team for rest. These can be from anywhere from Week 4 to Week 13. NFL has brought London into the mix over the last few years, resulting some teams to forfeit one of their home games, and go play overseas.

If you have ever wondered how they determine who plays who, it is the same formula every year. Each team will play their division twice, once home and once away. This results in six games already. Then a team plays one game against each team from a division in their own conference. Two of those are played at home, and two are on the road. This rotates every three years. This is also repeated for a division outside of conference as well. The final piece of the puzzle is playing two games against in-conference opponents, determined on where the teams finished in their division. A first place team in one division, would play another first place team in another division. This is how we get our Sunday Night Football games that don't feature in-division opponents, and also our Fox Game of the Week matchups.

Once schedules are released, noting the possible rough stretches of the season, we still can't take a heavy approach to letting it influence on our takes. We saw the NFC East defenses rise to the occasion more than we anticipated in preseason. Analyzing NFL schedules can help set up your fantasy drafts. Focusing in on out of division games will give you an edge on the rest. In division games are a bit predictable for teams to game plan. Out of division games are a different story.

Week 1 Fantasy Forecast

Week 1 presents us with a Le'Veon Bell dream matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Tennessee and Oakland feature two of the young up and coming quarterbacks in the game, and are squaring off against each other. Both Oakland and Tennessee struggled defending the pass. Drew Brees will have a tough task at hand going into Minnesota, where opposing offenses really struggled.

Sunday, September 17 4.25 PM ET Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta Falcons
Monday, September 18 8:30 PM ET Detroit Lions @ New York Giants

Week 2 Fantasy Forecast

Tom Brady and Drew Brees face each other in the SuperDome, which sets up for a lot of fantasy points. Brandin Cooks also makes the return to his former team. Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers meet again, and if this game duplicates like last years, we are in for a fantasy treat. Dallas, Washington, and Philadelphia all head to AFC West opponents this week, which does not bode well for fantasy production.

Sunday, September 24 4:25 PM ET Kansas City Chiefs @ Los Angeles Chargers
Sunday, September 24 8:30 PM ET Oakland Raiders @ Washington Redskins
Sunday, September 24 8:30 PM ET Dallas Cowboys @ Arizona Cardinals

Week 3 Fantasy Forecast

Andrew Luck will face a Cleveland Browns defense at home, and should enjoy friendly fantasy production. Seattle's defense might put a damper on Marcus Mariota and the Titans offense. If Carolina's defense plays like last years, Drew Brees should be able to take advantage of the matchup, even on the road. Lions-Falcons could turn into a shootout if the offenses are in fine form.

Week 4 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, September 28 8:25 PM ET Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers
Sunday, October 1 9:30 AM ET New Orleans Saints @ Miami Dolphins (London)
Sunday, October 1 1:00 PM ET Buffalo Bills @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday, October 1 1:00 PM ET Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens
Sunday, October 1 1:00 PM ET Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns
Sunday, October 1 1:00 PM ET Los Angeles Rams @ Dallas Cowboys
Sunday, October 1 1:00 PM ET Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans
Sunday, October 1 1:00 PM ET Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings
Sunday, October 1 1:00 PM ET Carolina Panthers @ New England Patriots
Sunday, October 1 1:00 PM ET Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets
Sunday, October 1 4:05 PM ET San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals

Sunday, October 1 4.25 PM ET Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos
Sunday, October 1 8:30 PM ET Indianapolis Colts @ Seattle Seahawks
Monday, October 2 8:30 PM ET Washington Redskins @ Kansas City Chiefs

Week 4 Fantasy Forecast

David Johnson against the San Francisco 49ers? Where do we sign up? Johnson is one of the highest usage backs, and facing off against one of the worst run defenses in football. The Colts come off one of the best matchups in Week 3 and go to Seattle in Week 4. Put a damper on fantasy production from the Colts offense this week. Russell Wilson and company might be the ones to target.

Week 5 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, October 5 8:25 PM ET New England Patriots @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday, October 8 1:00 PM ET Buffalo Bills @ Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday, October 8 1:00 PM ET New York Jets @ Cleveland Browns
Sunday, October 8 1:00 PM ET Carolina Panthers @ Detroit Lions
Sunday, October 8 1:00 PM ET San Francisco 49ers @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday, October 8 1:00 PM ET Tennessee Titans @ Miami Dolphins
Sunday, October 8 1:00 PM ET Los Angeles Chargers @ New York Giants
Sunday, October 8 1:00 PM ET Arizona Cardinals @ Philadelphia Eagles

Sunday, October 8 4:25 PM ET Green Bay Packers @ Dallas Cowboys
Sunday, October 8 8:30 PM ET Kansas City Chiefs @ Houston Texans
Monday, October 9 8:30 PM ET Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears

Week 5 Fantasy Forecast

The Giants defense was flying around last year, churning out a top five defensive unit. With Philip Rivers heading to New York, he might find it tough finding the end zone. The Eagles and Cardinals also generate a no fly zone, and these two quarterbacks are close to off limits. The Packers face a Cowboys secondary that did not have an answer to Aaron Rodgers last season. We will see if that holds again.

Week 6 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, October 12 8:25 PM ET Philadelphia Eagles @ Carolina Panthers
Sunday, October 15 1:00 PM ET Miami Dolphins @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday, October 15 1:00 PM ET Chicago Bears @ Baltimore Ravens
Sunday, October 15 1:00 PM ET Cleveland Browns @ Houston Texans
Sunday, October 15 1:00 PM ET Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings
Sunday, October 15 1:00 PM ET Detroit Lions @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday, October 15 1:00 PM ET New England Patriots @ New York Jets
Sunday, October 15 1:00 PM ET San Francisco 49ers @ Washington Redskins
Sunday, October 15 4:05 PM ET Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Arizona Cardinals
Sunday, October 15 4:05 PM ET Los Angeles Rams @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday, October 15 4:25 PM ET Pittsburgh Steelers @ Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday, October 15 4:25 PM ET Los Angeles Chargers @ Oakland Raiders
Sunday, October 15 8:30 PM ET New York Giants @ Denver Broncos
Monday, October 16 8:30 PM ET Indianapolis Colts @ Tennessee Titans

Week 6 Fantasy Forecast

This week doesn't produce a ton of generous matchups, but the Lions visit the SuperDome again. Last year it failed to generate a ton, but we know these games are always on another level in terms of fantasy production. Lamar Miller gets a juicy matchup with the Browns at home. High profile names offset each other with tough defenses.

Week 7 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, October 19 8:25 PM ET Kansas City Chiefs @ Oakland Raiders
Sunday, October 22 1:00 PM ET Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Buffalo Bills
Sunday, October 22 1:00 PM ET Carolina Panthers @ Chicago Bears
Sunday, October 22 1:00 PM ET Tennessee Titans @ Cleveland Browns
Sunday, October 22 1:00 PM ET New Orleans Saints @ Green Bay Packers
Sunday, October 22 1:00 PM ET Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday, October 22 1:00 PM ET Arizona Cardinals @ Los Angeles Rams (London)
Sunday, October 22 1:00 PM ET New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins
Sunday, October 22 1:00 PM ET Baltimore Ravens @ Minnesota Vikings
Sunday, October 22 1:00 PM ET Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday, October 22 4:05 PM ET Dallas Cowboys @ San Francisco 49ers
Sunday, October 22 4:25 PM ET Denver Broncos @ Los Angeles Chargers
Sunday, October 22 4:25 PM ET Seattle Seahawks @ New York Giants
Sunday, October 22 8:30 PM ET Atlanta Falcons @ New England Patriots
Monday, October 23 8:30 PM ET Washington Redskins @ Philadelphia Eagles

Week 7 Fantasy Forecast

Another great quarterback meeting takes place this week, and this time it is with Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees. Eli Manning and Russell Wilson also square off, but the Giants secondary and Seattle road numbers are not generous to Wilson's offense. Tom Brady and Matt Ryan face each other, and this time in a regular season game. It should sit as one of the higher total games on the slate.

Week 8 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, October 26 9:30 AM ET Miami Dolphins @ Baltimore Ravens
Sunday, October 29 1:00 PM ET Minnesota Vikings @ Cleveland Browns (London)
Sunday, October 29 1:00 PM ET Oakland Raiders @ Buffalo Bills
Sunday, October 29 1:00 PM ET Indianapolis Colts @ Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday, October 29 1:00 PM ET Los Angeles Chargers @ New England Patriots
Sunday, October 29 1:00 PM ET Chicago Bears @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday, October 29 1:00 PM ET Atlanta Falcons @ New York Jets
Sunday, October 29 1:00 PM ET San Francisco 49ers @ Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, October 29 1:00 PM ET Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday, October 29 4:05 PM ET Houston Texans @ Seattle Seahawks
Sunday, October 29 4:25 PM ET Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins
Sunday, October 29 8:30 PM ET Pittsburgh Steelers @ Detroit Lions
Monday, October 30 8:30 PM ET Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs

Week 8 Fantasy Forecast

A shortened slate takes a few games off the, making this somewhat of a lackluster week for offenses. The Eagles get the 49ers defense at home, which is a prime matchup, while most of the other offenses are sitting with mediocre matchups. New Orleans at home is looking like the only real lock of the weekend.

Week 9 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, November 2 8:25 PM ET Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets
Sunday, November 5 1:00 PM ET Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers
Sunday, November 5 1:00 PM ET Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans
Sunday, November 5 1:00 PM ET Cincinnati Bengals @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday, November 5 1:00 PM ET Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday, November 5 1:00 PM ET Los Angeles Rams @ New York Giants
Sunday, November 5 1:00 PM ET Denver Broncos @ Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, November 5 1:00 PM ET Baltimore Ravens @ Tennessee Titans
Sunday, November 5 4:05 PM ET Arizona Cardinals @ San Francisco 49ers
Sunday, November 5 4:05 PM ET Washington Redskins @ Seattle Seahawks
Sunday, November 5 4:25 PM ET Kansas City Chiefs @ Dallas Cowboys
Sunday, November 5 8:30 PM ET Oakland Raiders @ Miami Dolphins
Monday, November 6 8:30 PM ET Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers

Week 9 Fantasy Forecast

Another SuperDome game kicks things off with fantasy production, as Tampa Bay heads into New Orleans. David Johnson is also getting a solid matchup against San Francisco. Some NFC East teams draw tough matchups as Kirk Cousins faces Seattle and Carson Wentz takes on Denver. Houston might be taking a step back defensively this year, so Indy might not be in that bad of spot.

Week 10 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, November 9 8:25 PM ET Seattle Seahawks @ Arizona Cardinals
Sunday, November 12 1:00 PM ET New Orleans Saints @ Buffalo Bills
Sunday, November 12 1:00 PM ET Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears
Sunday, November 12 1:00 PM ET Cleveland Browns @ Detroit Lions
Sunday, November 12 1:00 PM ET Pittsburgh Steelers @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday, November 12 1:00 PM ET Los Angeles Chargers @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday, November 12 1:00 PM ET New York Jets @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday, November 12 1:00 PM ET Cincinnati Bengals @ Tennessee Titans
Sunday, November 12 1:00 PM ET Minnesota Vikings @ Washington Redskins
Sunday, November 12 4:05 PM ET Houston Texans @ Los Angeles Rams
Sunday, November 12 4:25 PM ET Dallas Cowboys @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday, November 12 4:25 PM ET New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers
Sunday, November 12 8:30 PM ET New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos
Monday, November 13 8:30 PM ET Miami Dolphins @ Carolina Panthers

Week 10 Fantasy Forecast

Your weekly pick on the Cleveland Browns team is the Detroit Lions at home. Pittsburgh's offense heads on the road to Indy, who will have a tough time trying to stop the Steelers weapons. Jacksonville's revamped defense should be even better this year, which has me questioning the likes of Philip Rivers and company.

Week 11 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, November 16 8:25 PM ET Tennessee Titans @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday, November 19 1:00 PM ET Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears
Sunday, November 19 1:00 PM ET Jacksonville Jaguars @ Cleveland Browns
Sunday, November 19 1:00 PM ET Baltimore Ravens @ Green Bay Packers
Sunday, November 19 1:00 PM ET Arizona Cardinals @ Houston Texans
Sunday, November 19 1:00 PM ET Los Angeles Rams @ Minnesota Vikings
Sunday, November 19 1:00 PM ET Washington Redskins @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday, November 19 1:00 PM ET Kansas City Chiefs @ New York Giants
Sunday, November 19 4:05 PM ET Buffalo Bills @ Los Angeles Chargers
Sunday, November 19 4:25 PM ET Cincinnati Bengals @ Denver Broncos
Sunday, November 19 4:25 PM ET New England Patriots @ Oakland Raiders (Mexico City)
Sunday, November 19 8:30 PM ET Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys
Monday, November 20 8:30 PM ET Atlanta Falcons @ Seattle Seahawks

Week 11 Fantasy Forecast

Kirk Cousins and the Washington Redskins head into New Orleans, giving both sides a chance for a shootout. This might be the only one we see on the main slate given the matchups. The Raiders and Patriots in Mexico City might affect things based on location and altitude. Baltimore's pass defense can be hit and miss, and I expect them to miss against Aaron Rodgers in Lambeau.

Week 12 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, November 23 12:30 PM ET Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions
Thursday, November 23 4:30 PM ET Los Angeles Chargers @ Dallas Cowboys
Thursday, November 23 8:30 PM ET New York Giants @ Washington Redskins
Sunday, November 26 1:00 PM ET Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday, November 26 1:00 PM ET Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday, November 26 1:00 PM ET Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday, November 26 1:00 PM ET Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday, November 26 1:00 PM ET Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots
Sunday, November 26 1:00 PM ET Carolina Panthers @ New York Jets
Sunday, November 26 1:00 PM ET Chicago Bears @ Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, November 26 4:05 PM ET New Orleans Saints @ Los Angeles Rams
Sunday, November 26 4:05 PM ET Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers
Sunday, November 26 4:25 PM ET Jacksonville Jaguars @ Arizona Cardinals
Sunday, November 26 4:25 PM ET Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders
Sunday, November 26 8:30 PM ET Green Bay Packers @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Monday, November 27 8:30 PM ET Houston Texans @ Baltimore Ravens

Week 12 Fantasy Forecast

Thanksgiving gives us what should be two high scoring games, and one lower scoring game in the Lions-Vikings. Ben Roethlisberge and Aaron Rodgers headline the Sunday Night Football game, and there is a lot of star power in that one. Marcus Mariota has the Colts defense's number, and is always a quarterback who can go off. Atlanta at home to Tampa Bay sets up their offense with a nice rebound game from the trip to Seattle.

Week 13 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, November 30 8:25 PM ET Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys
Sunday, December 3 1:00 PM ET Minnesota Vikings @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday, December 3 1:00 PM ET Detroit Lions @ Baltimore Ravens
Sunday, December 3 1:00 PM ET New England Patriots @ Buffalo Bills
Sunday, December 3 1:00 PM ET San Francisco 49ers @ Chicago Bears

Sunday, December 3 1:00 PM ET Indianapolis Colts @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday, December 3 1:00 PM ET Denver Broncos @ Miami Dolphins
Sunday, December 3 1:00 PM ET Carolina Panthers @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday, December 3 1:00 PM ET Kansas City Chiefs @ New York Jets
Sunday, December 3 1:00 PM ET Houston Texans @ Tennessee Titans
Sunday, December 3 4:05 PM ET Cleveland Browns @ Los Angeles Chargers
Sunday, December 3 4:25 PM ET Los Angeles Rams @ Arizona Cardinals
Sunday, December 3 4:25 PM ET New York Giants @ Oakland Raiders
Sunday, December 3 8:30 PM ET Philadelphia Eagles @ Seattle Seahawks
Monday, December 4 8:30 PM ET Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals

Week 13 Fantasy Forecast

Melvin Gordon gets a hapless Cleveland defense this week and Jordan Howard gets the 49ers. Two high volume running backs in great spots, you do the math. As far as passing attacks in good spots, Seattle, New Orleans, and Green Bay could all put up larger numbers. Oakland, Philadelphia, and Miami are in the tougher spots.

Week 14 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, December 7 8:25 PM ET New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday, December 10 1:00 PM ET Indianapolis Colts @ Buffalo Bills
Sunday, December 10 1:00 PM ET Minnesota Vikings @ Carolina Panthers
Sunday, December 10 1:00 PM ET Chicago Bears @ Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday, December 10 1:00 PM ET Green Bay Packers @ Cleveland Browns
Sunday, December 10 1:00 PM ET San Francisco 49ers @ Houston Texans
Sunday, December 10 1:00 PM ET Seattle Seahawks @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday, December 10 1:00 PM ET Oakland Raiders @ Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday, December 10 1:00 PM ET Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday, December 10 4:05 PM ET Tennessee Titans @ Arizona Cardinals
Sunday, December 10 4:05 PM ET New York Jets @ Denver Broncos
Sunday, December 10 4:05 PM ET Washington Redskins @ Los Angeles Chargers
Sunday, December 10 4:25 PM ET Philadelphia Eagles @ Los Angeles Rams
Sunday, December 10 4:25 PM ET Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants
Sunday, December 10 8:30 PM ET Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Monday, December 11 8:30 PM ET New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins

Week 14 Fantasy Forecast

Oakland, Tennessee, and Seattle draw very tough matchups on the road this week, giving me less of a reason to like their offenses. This is another week with lackluster matchups, outside of Green Bay facing Cleveland. If the Titans pass defense is what it was last year, Arizona will be in a good spot. LeSean McCoy can get a step ahead of this Colts defense that was bottom of the league against the run.

Week 15 Schedule

Date Time Game
Thursday, December 14 8:25 PM ET Denver Broncos @ Indianapolis Colts
Saturday, December 16 4:30 PM ET Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions
Saturday, December 16 8:25 PM ET Los Angeles Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday, December 17 1:00 PM ET Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills
Sunday, December 17 1:00 PM ET Green Bay Packers @ Carolina Panthers
Sunday, December 17 1:00 PM ET Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns
Sunday, December 17 1:00 PM ET Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday, December 17 1:00 PM ET Cincinnati Bengals @ Minnesota Vikings
Sunday, December 17 1:00 PM ET New York Jets @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday, December 17 1:00 PM ET Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants
Sunday, December 17 1:00 PM ET Arizona Cardinals @ Washington Redskins
Sunday, December 17 4:05 PM ET Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle Seahawks
Sunday, December 17 4:25 PM ET New England Patriots @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday, December 17 4:25 PM ET Tennessee Titans @ San Francisco 49ers
Sunday, December 17 8:30 PM ET Dallas Cowboys @ Oakland Raiders
Monday, December 18 8:30 PM ET Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Week 15 Fantasy Forecast

DeMarco Murray will face the San Francisco defense making him a premium back. If someone emerges as a top running back for Baltimore, they get a great matchup against the Browns. Drew Brees gets a New York defense that was bottom ten against the pass, and at home, making him one of the best quarterbacks to go after this week. Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger facing off could create a shootout.

Week 16 Schedule

Date Time Game
Saturday, December 23 4:30 PM ET Indianapolis Colts @ Baltimore Ravens
Saturday, December 23 8:30 PM ET Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers
Sunday, December 24 1:00 PM ET Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Carolina Panthers
Sunday, December 24 1:00 PM ET Cleveland Browns @ Chicago Bears
Sunday, December 24 1:00 PM ET Detroit Lions @ Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday, December 24 1:00 PM ET Miami Dolphins @ Kansas City Chiefs

Sunday, December 24 1:00 PM ET Los Angeles Rams @ Tennessee Titans

Sunday, December 24 4:05 PM ET Jacksonville Jaguars @ San Francisco 49ers
Sunday, December 24 4:25 PM ET New York Giants @ Arizona Cardinals
Sunday, December 24 4:25 PM ET Seattle Seahawks @ Dallas Cowboys
Monday, December 25 4:30 PM ET Pittsburgh Steelers @ Houston Texans
Monday, December 25 8:30 PM ET Oakland Raiders @ Philadelphia Eagles

Week 16 Fantasy Forecast

Another SuperDome game, and this time against Atlanta. With these two offenses, this is one to get yourself some exposure to. Jordan Howard gets a dream matchup against the Browns, to hopefully round out a solid season. Washington, New York, and Dallas draw tough matchups against top ten defenses. Even with above average offenses, I am not expecting a ton.

Week 17 Schedule

Date Time Game
Sunday, December 31 1:00 PM ET Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday, December 31 1:00 PM ET Cincinnati Bengals @ Baltimore Ravens
