2016 Minnesota Vikings Outlook
As you could have probably guessed, the Vikings ran more times than they threw. In fact, 51% of the time it was a run play. With the way their team is built you can't knock them for doing so. They are not a friendly fantasy offense outside of Adrian Peterson, and we just have to deal with it. The running game is where you are going to be looking for fantasy purposes, as they rushed for 139 yards per game last year. This ranked fourth in the league. A 1.1 average rushing TD was tied for third in the league, and that Peterson cash game play was money more often than not.
Stefon Diggs was fun for about 3-4 weeks last year, as the Vikings offense threw just 28 times a game. This ranked last in the league. When Teddy Bridgewater did throw, it hardly went to wide receivers. With their core, you can't really blame them. 50% of the passes went to wideouts, well below the league average. 26% went to running backs, and 24% went to tight ends. Kyle Rudolph and Stefon Diggs received most of the targets, and that should be the case again this season. It is going to be a matter of game theory when narrowing down a chance to catch them at low ownership. Tread lightly, 75% of Minnesota's games went under the total by about 3.2 points. With that being said, defense and the running game is where you are looking to get with this team.
