2016 Seattle Seahawks Outlook
Seattle ranked in the top ten for points per game last season (25.4), as the offense carried a little more of the weight in winning games than years past. The defense lacked at times, forcing Russell Wilson to become a little bit more of a down the field thrower. Let's not fool ourselves, Seattle still rushed 51% of the time, which was tied for second in the league. This bodes well for projected starter, Thomas Rawls, who had a very solid first year filling in for Marshawn Lynch. They finished third in rush attempts per game (31), and they should remain a top five team in that department. Touchdown production was more involved in the passing game (2.1 per game), compared to 0.6 rushing touchdowns per game. The air it out attack isn't the Seahawks nature, but putting points on the board efficiently is.
Russell Wilson had 24 touchdowns over his last seven games of the season. It was all about the quick passes, and yards after the catch. Now a 24 touchdown in a seven game span is tough to repeat, but another electric year for Wilson could be in repeat. He rushed for 553 yards on 103 attempts, and threw for 4,024 yards. He was a top three fantasy QB, and will likely carry that weight on his shoulders again. Doug Baldwin benefitted from this performance, catching 14 touchdowns. Seattle has some secondary pieces, but did lack a true number one for Russell. Baldwin has seemed to lock down that role.
