GPP Plays are about finding low ownership and high ceilings to help take down a major tournament. We highlight two high-priced, mid-priced, and low-priced plays across the Main Slate. Be sure to check out our new revamped Colossus lineup optimizer.
High Priced Players
John Wall (PG), Washington Wizards
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | DVP | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection (FD/DK) |
@Trail Blazers | 37 | 1.31 | 13 | 23% | 52.6 | 109 | 42.92/48.47 |
Salary: FD: $10,700 / DK: $10,100
Coming off of an overtime game, there is some risk with Washington players. Most teams are on back to backs here, and we are in the midst of a brutal schedule. John Wall played 41 minutes last night, so I am reserving him for just tournaments. Wall only played 28 minutes last time out against Portland, putting up a 24-4-7 line in a blowout fashion. Portland on a days rest, and with Jusuf Nurkic, this one should stay close, and Vegas even has Portland has five point favorites. Over the last ten games, Portland has allowed the 11th most fantasy points per game to opposing point guards. Damian Lillard is never known for his defense, putting Wall in a good spot to continue his hot stretch. If for some reason Washington rests starters, Kemba Walker and Mike Conley are next in line.
Nikola Jokic (PF/C), Denver Nuggets
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | DVP | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection (FD/DK) |
@Kings | 32 | 1.29 | 17 | 20% | 47.1 | 111 | 37.76/41.28 |
Salary: FD: $10,100 / DK: $10,300
After a whole day of speculating Nikola Jokic's status, he came out and dominated the Boston front court. On a back to back, I am not worried, given Jokic played just 27 minutes. He only needed that to nearly log another triple-double. Ownership will come up from last night, but I do think people will look at his history against Sacramento and pay up elsewhere. The Kings rank bottom ten in rebounding, and allow the fourth highest FG% to opposing centers. Jokic has double digit boards in nine of the last ten games, and has seven or more assists in five of them.
Mid-Priced Players
Andrew Wiggins (SF), Minnesota Timberwolves
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | DVP | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection (FD/DK) |
@Bucks | 38 | 0.98 | 28 | 29% | 45.5 | 100 | 34.20/37.24 |
Salary: FD $7,700 / DK: $7,400
We haven't seen Andrew Wiggins shoot particularly well of late, but he did show signs of improvement last night against the Warriors. Playing Utah, San Antonio, and Los Angeles tells the story with his recent form. Three tough defensive teams. The Bucks allow the third most fantasy points per game to opposing small forwards, so this is a spot where he can really get back into form. With LeBron James up top, and some decent mid-range options, ownership should be rather low in tournaments.
Markieff Morris (PF), Washington Wizards
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | DVP | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection (FD/DK) |
@Trail Blazers | 29 | 1.04 | 28 | 16% | 55.8 | 109 | 27.55/30.16 |
Salary: FD: $6,000 / DK: $6,400
I am not worried about the overtime game for Markieff Morris, due to him playing 26 minutes last night. Morris' minutes have been trending down of late, and his play hasn't helped. Because of that, single digit ownership should be there tonight. Portland allows the third most fantasy points per game to opposing power forwards, and 21st in rebounding. Morris does a little bit of everything, yet his mindset is another thing. Depending on which Morris shows up, he could leave you with a high ceiling, or an absolute dud.
Low-Priced Players
Ian Clark (SG), Golden State Warriors
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | DVP | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection (FD/DK) |
@ Spurs | 30 | 0.8 | 19 | 20% | 36.3 | 95 | 24.60/27.30 |
Salary: FD: $3,500 / DK: $3,000
A lot has come out over the last 24 hours with this game. Golden State is resting Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andre Iguodala are all resting tonight. Ian Clark will see an uptick in usage and minutes in this one. There is still a 95 team total here to target, and basically these guys are all bare minimum, or close to it. Clark has a 1.11 FPPM and a 31% usage rate with those names off the court this season, in 147 minutes. JaVale McGee and Patrick McCaw will also see a bump in usage and minutes as well.
Jonathon Simmons (SF), San Antonio Spurs
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | DVP | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection (FD/DK) |
Warriors | 26 | 0.84 | 13 | 18.1% | 43.2 | 106 | 19.76/21.8 |
Salary: FD: $3,600 / DK: $3,900
San Antonio is in a similar spot, and news rolled out that LaMarcus Aldridge will miss time as well. Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker, and Dejuante Murray are all ruled out as well. Kyle Anderson is questionable too, which would give a boost to Jonathon Simmons if he misses tonight's game. Simmons sees a 20% usage with those names off the floor, and is in play for near bare minimum. Pau Gasol, David Lee, and Patty Mills are all high usage plays to use tonight.
