Forecasting Analysis

WSH@ATL

Current radar:

An almost carbon copy of last night's game in ATL. Here is what the simulated radar is forecast to look like:

Current radar matches up well with the simulated radar. DELAY(S) OF SOME SORT POSSIBLE WHILE A PPD IS RATHER UNLIKELY

MIN@KC

A major line of thunderstorms will be crawling towards KC. Here is what it could look like at 8 PM:

The current radar is quiet in the region but the line of thunderstorms shown above is coming together across the central park of Kansas. This looks like a game that may start but may be very difficult to finish. Everything is saying that this line of thunderstorms is going to mean business and this game is a major risk. MODERATE RISK OF A PPD; MODERATE TO HIGH RISK OF SOME SORT OF DELAY(S)

CHC@COL

At 1st glance of the model I trust the most, I was like, no big deal. They will play through this. This park and Globe Life in TEX the seem to have the most patience of any other parks and play through all types of bad weather. Here is the simulated radar:

This looks like a situation where there will be some rain at times but one where that they will play through.

LOW TO MAYBE MODERATE RISK OF PPD; MODERATE RISK OF SOME SORT OF DELAY

The bigger story here may be the wind and the temperatures.

So it is warmer than I expected right now...but those temperatures are expected to drop to about 60 degrees by gametime. What about the wind? NE at 10 mph right now but it is expected to increase to about 20 mph by gametime and stay that speed this evening. The direction should slight to to the north, and be NNE throughout the game. Where does that blow? Well let me show you:

So, not quite due in from right....but as you can see, it generally does blow in. This is not a Coors Field than will play like it did much of this summer.
