Good Morning ladies and gents. Another weekly update for you guys. Pretty much the same strategy this week. I stayed away from the Thursday night game (except for one contest) and stuck to Sunday Monday games. I only used ONE 100% Colossus line-up with no changes. The rest I use Colossus as a base, then with a combination of the cheat sheets, forums, etc make 1-2 player changes on each lineup. This week I really wish I stuck with 1-2 lineups. I scored 193 points in the Week 5 - Free $2000 Daily Fantasy Cafe Contest which would have won me money in any contest I joined. I got shoved out of the money last night on one GPP and had a $10 double up that was abysmal. Overall, I cant complain. I have been crushing these week after week, even though it might as well be monopoly money, since Im too scared to bet big ($10 contest was my highest to date). I am 12 for 14 in Cash games to date. Maybe I grow some balls and stick to $5-$10 double ups this week.

As usual, I excluded defense facing offense players option, no change to exposure, deselected 49ers, checked Vegas box totals. Cash option selected for double ups, GPP for others. I always lock Flex as WR but this week made some tinkering on a few lineups using a RB.

I really shit the bed with defenses this week. Broncos just seem to be a solid pick no matter the match up.

Lineup 1: Beginner NFL $3 Double UP & NFL Giant $2 Double UP

Nothing special about this lineup. I left Julio in just in case he does well. I literally had him in every lineup the day prior and decided I didnt like his Questionable status. I feel like you could tell he wasnt 100% in that game. I actually switched to Forsett last minute in a couple line-ups hearing that there were some Raven RB injuries, I figured he would get a big bulk of the carries.

Lineup 2: NFL $1m Kickoff Million

This was my "Im choosing to play Thursday night games, against my own judgement" play. Arian and DeAndre performed well and had I picked ANY other defense besides the Texans, I would of won some more money.

Lineup 3: Beginner NFL $3 Double Up

I really liked Eli Manning here. I got very lucky having two injuries on this lineup and still winning money.

Lineup 4: NFL Giant $2 Double UP

With Julio Jones and Antonio Brown not being favorable, I really liked the Eli Manning + OBJ choice this week.

Lineup 5: NFL Massive $10 Double UP

I added a little difference in Jamison Crowder. I was really surprised how SHITTY this lineup did. Was 10-15 points away from finishing top 10,000.

Lineup 6: Week 5- Free $2000 Daily Fantasy Contest

My best scoring line-up of the week. I figured most people on the site would not have chosen Gates, as he wasnt listed on any lineups or cheat sheets. Again though, pooped myself on picking the defense. Very well could of been the difference between 11th place and 4th.

Lineup 7: NFL $1.5M Play-Action

Went with the good old Brady, Gronk, Edelman stack and overall not mad about it. Also, chose Boobie figuring a lot of others wouldnt. Now I know why!

You had a much better week than I did. Defenses and tight ends where what really let me down but looks like for the most part you avoided the bad tight ends.

Nice. I actually did pretty well mixing up a bit of Colossus and tinkering. One of my best lineups was basically all Colossus because they kept pointing me towards a Blake Bortles-Allen Robinson stack. So I joined the Blake Bortles support group and went for it. Had I not went with Julio and maybe chosen ODB, or not changed out Doug Martin for TJ Yeldon, it probably would have been my highest scoring lineup for the week. But I scored 193-194 with a Eli Maning-ODB stack, Antonio Gates at TE, Woodhead at Flex, Dion Lewis, Snead, Charles (I think), Hurns and Emmanuel Sanders I believe. Broncos defense. That was my best score of the week. Brady-Gronk and using Charles pretty much killed me in all cash games. I think I won one, but can't recall which lineup I used. Gates pulled it out for me last night in that one. Lost 4 out of 5 in cash. Which brings me to my next question, Should you really have 2 separate lineups for cash and GPP? If your aim is to score the most points, maybe use your high variance lineups in more cash games at lower stakes? Also, was knocked out of the cash position in a few tourneys not having anyone from MNF. I feel like if there is someone worth playing on MNF, you should do it for your own sanity. It also seems like paying up for big time RBs can fail pretty easily (that was my strategy in cash this week), we'll see where guys like Freeman and Dion Lewis are priced this week, but you pretty much need 27-30 points in order to get value for anyone priced 7500-9300, IMO. I think finding value is more important.

For me GPP is just trying it hit big with a solid base lineup and throwing in some guys that have a high ceiling potential.

Nice week odieman1231 - those damn tight ends and defenses were a downer this week!

Lox81 - I don't believe you need two separate lineups, because I always make sure my cash game lineups go into GPP's too. Usually my cash game lineup is my base for other tournament entries. I start to tinker and move a few players in and out that might have some more risk. As for your MNF question, this is something I have debated in my own mind numerous times. I feel the need to have someone in the last game of the week. If the matchup, price, and return value looks good I lean towards the player in the MNF game over another player during the day for the sake of sanity, as you said. It is a stressful situation being a sitting duck. But, I am not going out of my way and forcing a MNF player in who has a iffy matchup. That is my personal take on it, others probably feel different.

Thanks Jason. Yeah, thats my feeling on the MNF game. If you can get someone in, (like Antonio Gates last night), then get him in. I also think that I am just going to try to focus on building a bunch of optimal lineups. Trying to come up with "safe" cash lineups isn't working for me. I'm just going to stack who I'm going to stack, and look for value and upside. Jamaal Charles was my "safe" play of the week, I had him in almost all my cash lineups, and we all know what happened there. (All the best to JC and I hope he recovers quickly of course). But even Le'Veon Bell didn't really pay off for his price. I think the right mix of price, value and upside is the way to go. Of course, easier said than done. I actually entered that stack you posted with Ryan, Freeman and Julio in one tourney, I placed until the MNF game but then got beat out. I think I changed out Hurns for Kamar Aiken and one other RB. But it probably did well in cash.

@odieman1231 - nice recap and well done! Defenses were tough. You weren't the only one on the Giants. Keep it up and really enjoy these posts.

Yeah a lot of people were on the giants Odie. It's not easy picking a D every week because you can sometimes sneak in a player you really like if you don't pay up for a good D, and honestly the variance for Defense is pretty high as most people know from season long leagues. The Broncos seem to be the top D by far this year, but literally any D/ST can score and get a bunch of sacks or turnovers any week. I was also on the Jags D a little bit this week thinking Winston would keep up the pick 6 bonanza but that didn't happen. The Broncos were the D I used in my highest scoring lineup which was a little higher than I originally thought, around 204. Seems like most of the winners of the tourneys I was in had Doug Martin in there somewhere which was definitely a good contrarian play now thinking about it. If your QB is struggling, might as well give the ball to your best back.

I am really feeling the Bengals defense this week against EJ Manuel and even worse, if he gets hurt, Josh Johnson. I wish the Buffalo defense wasn't as good as it was, else I would love a Jeremy Hill play also figuring the Bengals might be up by quite a bit. I also like the Jets, #8 rushing defense against the Redskins, who we know like to run the ball with a Over/Under of 40.5. Another low O/U is the Carolina Seattle game.

I am very interested in this Eagles Giants game. Eagles are favored by 4 points. Giants have a top 5 rush defense and the worst passing defense in the league. Might get me to buy in on Jordan Matthews or Sam Bradford.
