Each week of the upcoming season I will put my quarterback picks up against some of the biggest names in fantasy sports. This week I go up against Chris “Beersmakerfan" Prince. Chris does a weekly segment in which he gives his top value, mid-tier, and high dollar pick for quarterback for FanDuel. For those of you who are not familiar with Chris Prince just pay attention to a FanDuel commercial or a FanDuel ad in magazine. Chances are you will see his mug plastered somewhere in it. Prince was also featured on an ESPN segment a couple of years ago talking about daily fantasy sports.

Now to the picks

High Dollar

Prince- Tony Romo $8700/Myself Matt Ryan $8800

This is the start of where Prince and I differ. For his pick he has Tony Romo while I am going with Matt Ryan in a shootout at home vs the Eagles. The Falcons game has the highest over/under on the slate at 56 with the Falcons slight underdogs. With the Falcons scheduled to be playing from behind it gives Ryan even more opportunity to sling it around. Ryan has Julio Jones healthy and Jones is poised to have one of the biggest seasons for a wide receiver ever. The Eagles secondary ranks right up with the Redskins as one of the worst in the league. They gave up 7.8 yards per attempt and nearly two touchdowns a game through the air. The Falcons also get the benefit of playing in the Georgia Dome where Ryan has a QBR 10 points higher than on the road. Ryan is my pick to score the most points out of the quarterback position this week.

Mid Tier

Prince- Sam Bradford $7500/Myself Ryan Tannehill $8000

Another pick where Prince and myself do not agree on. He has Sam Bradford as his guy. While Bradford makes for a strong play, he is not my top guy in this tier. For $500 more in salary give me Ryan Tannehill all day long. The Redskins were the worst defense against the pass last year giving up the most yards per attempt, highest QB rating and most touchdowns in the league last year. Tannehill has some shinny new weapons to work with in DeVante Parker, Kenny Stills, and Jordan Cameron. Jarvis Landry is also more experienced and should put up some huge numbers. There are enough value plays at the other positions to justify paying up for Tannehill.

Value Tier

Prince- Tyrod Taylor $5000/Myself- Taylor $5000

Beersmakerfan has Tyrod Taylor as his value play of the week and we do not differ in this aspect. Taylor is minimum prices facing the Colts. He brings a running element to the position. The game is scheduled to be close with the Colts favored by 3 points. I like Taylor to get around 40 to 50 yards rushing and at least 200 yards passing with a touchdown through the air or ground.

Results

"Beersmakerfan" wins this week. We both had Taylor in our value column and if you played Taylor you were rewarded. Taylor scored 15.9 FanDuel points at minimum salary, passing for 195 yards and a touchdown, while adding 41 on the ground with no turnovers. In the mid-tier Prince wins the battle as Tannehill had a great game in real life but a poor game for fantasy owners. He completed 22/34 for 226 yards and a touchdown and zero interceptions for 11.74 fantasy points. Prince's choice in Bradford has a sub-par game in real life but was great for fantasy owners due to his volume of passes. Bradford threw 52 passes for 336 yards and a touchdown. Bradford also threw two interceptions one to ice the game for the Falcons. Due to his high volume of yards Bradford scored 15.44 points. In the upper tier Prince once again got the upper hand as Tony Romo took advantage of the porous Giants secondary for three scores. He finished the day with 24.14 points. My pick of Matt Ryan was steady throwing for 298 yards and 2 touchdowns but was undone my 2 interceptions with one coming in the end zone. Ryan finished the day with 18.62 points. Tune in next week for the next challenge and see if I fair better than week 1.

Bradford vs Tannehill is such a close call IMO. I love both guys. Hard to steer away from Tyrod as the cheap play also.

I think an underrated factor that no one is bringing up is Vic Beasley. He is special and is the missing link the Falcons were missing a disruptive force who can get after the quarterback.
