Boy am I glad I got around to this later than I usually do, because the Warriors news changes the slate. Draymond Green and Kevin Durant are both out for tonight's slate, making Steph Curry one of the top options on the board. That also frees up some minutes for the revenge narrative in Jordan Bell. Mike Conley and Nicolas Batum have been ruled out tonight, which puts Jeremy Lamb, Tyreke Evans, and Mario Chalmers in play again. New Orleans - Phoenix, Cleveland - Charlotte, and Indiana - Toronto are three games over a 215 total tonight. The only blowout concern is in Chicago, but those chances took a hit with the injury news. Boston, OKC, New York have some sneaky high totals as well.
Kyle Lowry, PG, Toronto Raptors
Projected Minutes | Team Total | DvP | FPPG Allowed | Usage Rate | DK Projection | FD Projection |
35 | 109 | 19 | 45.5 | 22.5 | 40.65 | 39.25 |
DK Salary: $8,100 / FD Salary: $8,000
You are going to see Steph Curry as a top option everywhere, so I will save my breath and keep it short with him. He will see the highest usage rate on the slate tonight with Durant and Green off the floor. We also have Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker in great spots who come in with Curry in terms of ownership tonight. Kyle Lowry should be overlooked due to the other names, and this game is fairly sneaky. Lowry has a 23.5% usage rate over the last five games, averaging 19-7-8, shooting 48% from the field. Indiana is a middle of the road team for point guards in terms of matchups for point guards, but are a poor rebounding team, allowing 9 rebounds per game to point guards, which boasts Lowry's floor a bit. They also rank bottom ten in FG% allowed to point guards. Toronto has a 109 implied total that will go overlooked tonight.
Kristaps Porzingis, PF/C, New York Knicks
Projected Minutes | Team Total | DvP | FPPG Allowed | Usage Rate | DK Projection | FD Projection |
31 | 104 | 24 | 46.2 | 34.5 | 36.87 | 37.34 |
DK Salary: $8,900 / FD Salary: $9,300
The Knicks are in a great spot tonight, and feature a handful of options. Enes Kanter and Tim Hardaway Jr are also in play, but Kristaps Porzingis might get a bit lost tonight. Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and DeMarcus Cousins will overshadow Porzingis given his poor shooting form of late, but this is a spot to get back on track. The Hawks are allowing the seventh most fantasy points per game to opposing power forwards, and rank 26th in rebounding. Porzingis has dropped 40+ fantasy points in the last two games despite shooting under 40% from the field. Excellent spot if you want to spin away from the field on this slate.
T.J. Warren, SF/PF, Phoenix Suns
Projected Minutes | Team Total | DvP | FPPG Allowed | Usage Rate | DK Projection | FD Projection |
30 | 102 | 26 | 41.9 | 24.4 | 26.80 | 27.36 |
DK Salary: $6,600 / FD Salary: $7,600
New Orleans ranks 25th in defensive efficiency against small forwards, and T.J. Warren comes into tonight's slate with a top ten usage rate among small forwards. Warren is averaging 35 fantasy points per game over the last five outings, shooting 48% from the field. This is the highest projected pace game tonight, and the Suns 112 implied total is the fourth highest on the slate. When totals are over 215, Warren has averaged over 30 fantasy points this season. Our projections are a little down on Warren, yet I see a 35+ fantasy point outing, which is solid for the price tag.
Tyreke Evans, SG/SF, Memphis Grizzlies
Projected Minutes | Team Total | DvP | FPPG Allowed | Usage Rate | DK Projection | FD Projection |
27 | 102 | 8 | 102 | 28.1 | 30.58 | 29.87 |
DK Salary: $6,900 / FD Salary: $7,300
Tyreke Evans has a 27% usage rate the last five games, averaging 30 minutes per game. He is continuing to show a hot hand from the field, averaging 18 points per game on 49% shooting. He is also averaging 6.2 boards and 4.8 assists per game. Evans should sit in single digit ownership tonight due to others around him, and his elevated price tags. Denver is allowing 107 points per game and opponents to shoot 47% from the field and 38% from three. Evans is in a sneaky spot tonight and will go overlooked in tournaments.
Jordan Bell, PF/C, Golden State Warriors
Projected Minutes | Team Total | DvP | FPPG Allowed | Usage Rate | DK Projection | FD Projection |
23 | 112 | 16 | 42.4 | 11.6 | 32.66 | 34.27 |
DK Salary: $3,000 / FD Salary: $3,000
I don't exactly feel this is a safe punt play due to the Warriors being able to still lineup David West, Kevin Looney, Nick Young, Andre Iguodala, and move Klay Thompson to the three playing more guards. But, Jordan Bell is in play for me tonight at the bare minimum. He has the revenge game narrative as Chicago passed on him in the draft to trade to Golden State. We need to see the starting lineup, as Bell could be in a feature role against a team he said "they made it clear that they don't want me" I am buying in here, and it could be a fish move, but at bare-minimum he opens up a ton of salary for someone who could see 20+ minutes tonight. Bell's per 36 numbers are great, but for someone who has played 8.2 minutes per game, we need to reevaluate. If he kept his season averages and played 24 minutes tonight, he is averaging 9-6-2 with 2.7 blocks + steals per game.
