Vegas Notes
- With a few lines still pending, the highest current total on the board belongs to Blazers-Wizards (212.5, -4.5).
- The lowest total on the slate right now is Jazz-Hornets (187, -2.5), but its a very safe bet that it will remain that way.
- The Raptors are the only double-digit favorite right now, listed at -11 at home against the Nets.
- Keep in mind that the first locks at 1 P.M., so be sure to get your lineups in early! If you miss out on that, today is split up into 3 playable slates, so check out the action at 3:30 and 7:30 ET, depending on which site you're playing on.
Top Picks
Stephen Curry (PG), Warriors
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
at CLE | 37 | 1.40 | 21.4 | 32.5 | 48.2 | 101.75 | 51.80 |
Salary: FD: $10,900 DK: $10,500
If you're watching the NBA today and not circling this game, you're doing it wrong. Curry vs. LeBron in a Finals rematch seems like the perfect way to cap off a holiday. Curry has been from another planet this season, averaging nearly 30/5/6 and just over 51 FP per contest. His matchup against Kyrie Irving and company isn't ideal, but Curry is matchup-proof. If you're looking for elite floor and a sky-high ceiling, the obvious play is here with Curry, especially on DK with the 3-point bonus.
Marcin Gortat (C), Wizards
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
vs POR | 35 | 1.02 | 32 | 19.7 | 51.8 | 108.5 | 35.70 |
Salary: FD: $7,000 DK: $7,000
Gortat made an emphatic return from having a knee infection last time out against the Celtics, and quickly posted his 3rd consecutive double-double and 40.25 DK points. Portland has allowed the 6th-most fantasy points to opposing C this season, and Gortat has been one of the most consistent options in the NBA down low. Fire him up tonight as a nice high-floor option for cash games.
Dirk Nowitzki (PF), Mavericks
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
vs BOS | 30 | 1.00 | 24.4 | 24.5 | 44.9 | 101 | 30 |
Salary: FD: $7,100 DK: $6,400
Dirk is coming off his worst performance in recent memory, with just 14.25 FP in 24 minutes against the Spurs (and he was stuffed by the GOAT Tim Duncan). With that being said, the Spurs are the toughest matchup in the NBA for opposing teams, and facing the Boston bigs is a good way to get yourself going once again. Dirk posted 34.75 DK points in 34 minutes in the first meeting between these two teams, and he is a safe bet to fall in that 25-35 range once again tonight. He doesn't have a lot of upside, but he comes with a solid floor in this matchup.
Jimmy Butler (SG), Bulls
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
at DET | 37 | 1.05 | 19.9 | 24.7 | 40 | 99.75 | 38.85 |
Salary: FD: $9,300 DK : $8,500
Although his price is tough to stomach on FD tonight, his DK price is still enticing. He has destroyed the Pistons this season, including a 4 OT game last time. His individual matchup against Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is less than ideal, but Butler has been matchup-proof this season. He has a high floor and is locked into huge minutes. We saw his upside on display a few games back against the 76ers, and although Pau Gasol and Derrick Rose are back, Butler remains an elite option, especially if you are playing the early-only slate.
John Wall (PG), Wizards
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
vs POR | 36 | 1.21 | 22.5 | 29.2 | 46.8 | 108.5 | 43.56 |
Salary: FD: $10,500 DK: $9,500
If you're playing on FD, Damian Lillard from the other side of this game comes in at $1,400 cheaper, so you're going to want to look his way. If you're on DK, Lillard is actually $100 more, so Wall makes for a great play. He is coming off a 36/13/7/7 line and a monster 79.3 DK points, and is facing offensive-minded Damian Lillard in this one. He has a tremendous floor and high ceiling, and this one currently has the highest total on the board. Fire up Wall with confidence.
Value Plays
Mario Chalmers (PG - MEM) FD: $5,600 DK: $6,900
Mike Conley has been upgraded to "Questionable" for today, but if he sits once again, Chalmers remains a nice play on FD. I won't be paying his price on DK, and you can ignore him if Conley suits up. However, if Conley can't go, this is a prime spot for Super Mario once again.
Jamal Crawford (SG - LAC) FD: $4,200 DK: $4,500
Crawford has been solid off the bench, taking at least 15 shots in each of his last 4 games, and reaching at least 22 DK points in each game. At his current price, he makes for a solid value play today at a fairly weak SG position.
Arron Afflalo (SG - NY) FD: $5,100 DK: $5,200
Afflalo has been solid of late and eating up a ton of minutes, with at least 36 minutes played in 7 of his last 8 games. He is an inconsistent scorer, but he is facing a 76ers team that struggles to defend wing players. He isn't my favorite play, but he is a decent filler who has the potential to put up 25+ if his shot is falling.
