Vegas Notes
- No blowout concerns tonight, according to Vegas. No game has a spread over -9.
- Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Miami are the only three teams projected to score under 100 points. Minnesota and Miami are at 98 and 99 however.
- OKC, Indiana, and New Orleans are projected to be the three highest scoring teams on the slate.
Top Picks
Russell Westbrook (PG), Thunder
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
@Nuggets | 36 | 1.51 | 25.5 | 33.3 | 52.3 | 110 | 54.3 |
Salary: FD: $10,500 DK: $10,700
On a four game slate, avoiding Russell Westbrook is a bonehead move. Tonight it is actually fairly easy to pair up the Thunder duo. Westbrook has his silly high usage rate we have grown accustomed to, and is a triple-double threat each night. Coming off of a triple-double, he has averaged 22-10-9 against Denver in two games this season. He is also averaging 18-11-9 in the last six games. Denver has allowed the 6th most fantasy points per game to opposing point guards, which Westbrook will exploit for the third time tonight.
Monta Ellis (SG), Pacers
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
@Suns | 35 | 0.84 | 25.1 | 21.5 | 41.7 | 107 | 29.4 |
Salary: FD: $6,300 DK: $6,500
George Hill is questionable tonight, but with personal reasons, not injury related. Either way, Monta Ellis is in play for me, due to his stretch before Hill missed the last game. He is averaging 14-7-2 in the last five games, shooting 47% from the field. Phoenix has allowed the 2nd most points per game, which is why you find Indy as the second highest team total on the slate. They have allowed the 9th most fantasy points per game to shooting guards, and the 2nd most to point guards. Whichever position Ellis lands tonight, he will be in a great matchup.
Kevin Durant (SF), Thunder
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
@Nuggets | 36 | 1.31 | 26.2 | 28.7 | 40.7 | 110 | 47.1 |
Salary: FD: $9,900 DK: $9,900
Small forward is very top heavy, and with Paul George in a shooting funk, it is easy to pay just a few hundred more for Kevin Durant. He is averaging 26-3-7 in the last five games, shooting 49% from the field. Clearly no shooting funk there. He has averaged 25-7-3 against Denver in two games this season, as Denver ranks in the bottom half in fantasy points allowed. With an OKC 110 total, fire up their two scoring options tonight. The Thunder duo should be your base in cash games.
Markieff Morris (PF), Suns
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
Pacers | 33 | 0.87 | 21.1 | 26.4 | 41.2 | 100 | 28.7 |
Salary: FD: $4,900 DK : $4,800
I am praying Jeff Hornacek doesn't make me look like an idiot tonight, but it seems Markieff Morris is out of his doghouse. He has played 27, 22, and 33 minutes in the last three games, putting up 25+ fantasy points in each. Morris has a solid 26.4% usage rate on the season, and his price tag continuously has him in my lineups for tonight. He is a piece to help fit Durant and Westbrook in lineups. He went 16 and 9 in 26 minutes against Indy three games ago, which would be a delightful line at his price.
Karl-Anthony Towns (C), Wolves
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
@Pelicans | 31 | 1.13 | 31.4 | 24.0 | 52.2 | 99 | 35.1 |
Salary: FD: $7,200 DK: $6,800
It is hard to get away from KAT tonight, facing off against a dreadful Pelicans' defense. They have allowed the 4th most points per game, and 4th most fantasy points per game to opposing centers. New Orleans ranks 25th in rebound differential, and picking on them with centers has been the way to go with this season. Towns is averaging 13 and 9 in the last six games, shooting 51% from the field. Those numbers do not set the world on fire, but facing touch teams in that stretch, it is not bad. He will have a cupcake matchup tonight, and is my favorite center option.
Value Plays
Jrue Holiday (PG - NO) FD: $6,300 DK: $6,000
With Tyreke Evans questionable, I will be firing up some Jrue Holiday regardless of if Evans plays. Holiday has a 26.5% usage rate this season, and is playing well off of the bench. He is averaging 30 minutes in the last six games, to go along with a 16-6-5 line. I love pairing him with Westbrook tonight. Minnesota has struggled against point guards this season, allowing the 5th most fantasy points per game.
Tyler Johnson (PG/SG - MIA) FD: $4,500 DK: $5,100
Beno Udrih and Goran Dragic are out tonight, leaving the backcourt fairly thin. Tyler Johnson saw 39 minutes last game, and it should be the case again tonight. Johnson has averaged 10-4-4 in the last five games, shooting 49% from the field. I love him a bit more on DK where he is SG eligible, but if you need to take the extra discount on FD, he is fine to pair up with Westy as well.
Shabazz Muhammad (SF - MIN) FD: $3,800 DK: $4,400
Small forward is ugly tonight, and stepping down to value, you will find Shabazz Muhammad and the Suns' three small forwards. All are in the same boat for minutes fluctuating from game to game. For the price I don't mind Muhammad tonight, especially given the state of the position. He is averaging 14-1-4 in the last six games, averaging 27 minutes in that span.
