Vegas Notes

- Pelicans-Suns have the highest total on the board at 212, with the Suns listed as 4.5-point favorites at home.

- Nets-Thunder isn't very far behind (211), but OKC comes in as the biggest favorite on the board at -12.5 with Kevin Durant back and healthy.

- The second-lowest on the night is a 3-way tie between Mavericks-Spurs (-9), Knicks-Magic (-1), and Jazz-Clippers (-5).

- Heat-Pistons looks like a wasteland tonight as far as Vegas is concerned, with just a 188-point total and Miami favored by 1. On a full slate, I'll have very little exposure to this one.

Projection

vs CLE

361.1420.525.542.6998.541

Salary: FD: $8,600 DK: $8,500

Lowry has been as solid as they come this season, averaging 41.9 DK points per game. He has scored at least 36 DK points in each of his last 9 games, and now draws the soft defense of the Cleveland backcourt. Lowry is a terrific cash game play, because he contributes in all categories. In his last game against the Clippers, he shot just 2/11 from the field, yet managed to contribute 37.75 DK points. He has a tremendous floor, and a high ceiling as well if this one is the battle that Vegas expects it to be (Cavs are favored by 1.5). He comes at a discount from the elite plays at the position, yet provides you with a similar floor and upside.

Projection

vs WAS351.0818.123.941.77106.2538

Salary: FD: $8,200 DK: $7,400

Although his price tag got a nice holiday bump in the past few days, he still feels like a bargain. He has quietly been one of the more consistent PG over the past few weeks, and it all came to a head against the Kings, as he exploded for 65 FP against Rajon Rondo's phantom defense. He is averaging an impressive 1.19 FPPM over his last six games, and is clearly the focal point of the Hornets offense. Tonight he draws a tougher matchup against John Wall, but in a game with a close spread (-3) and a high total (210), we may see yet another PG battle, which is exactly what we want with the white-hot Kemba.

Kawhi Leonard (SF), Spurs

Projection

vs DAL

361.1715.625.635.94102.542

Salary: FD: $8,800 DK: $8,400

While his price is creeping upward, you can't argue the floor/upside combo with the young superstar. Kahwi has at least 35 FP in each of his last 10 games, and is averaging 41 on the season. Even if LaMarcus Aldridge returns tonight, Kawhi's role in the Spurs' attack is solidified. At a SF position that has no Paul George, you can roster Leonard and his 35-point floor at a discount from LeBron James and Kevin Durant, and have some upside built in. If you're paying up, it makes sense to grab Kawhi in your cash games.

Projection

vs TOR341.1120.225.540.910038

Salary: FD: $8,300 DK: $8,300

The Cavaliers have made a conscious effort to get Love more involved in the offense this season, and it has paid off in a big way. Love is averaging nearly 19/12 and 41.4 FP per contest this season. He is one of the best offensive PF in the game today, and with LeBron in "defer-first" mode, Love will continue to get great looks from one of the best in the game. Toronto's frontcourt is lacking elite defenders, and Love's ability to stretch the floor makes him a nightmare cover for any big man.

Projection

vs ATL

321.172023.843.91101.2537

Salary: FD: $6,900 DK: $7,400

Happy Holidays! Big "KAT" got a nice price decrease on FD after struggling with foul trouble last time out against the 76ers. Tonight he faces off against the Hawks for the second time, and had no issues posting a solid 17/12 line and 40 DK points in their first meeting. Your daily check-up on the Hawks rebounding situation sees them sitting at 28th in the NBA with a -4.7 differential. I expect Towns to bounce back in a big way tonight and is one of my favorite big men on the slate when you factor in price.

Value Plays

Rudy Gay (SF - SAC) FD: $7,600 DK: $7,000

While he isn't technically a "value" play, he's a borderline must-play with DeMarcus Cousins listed as "doubtful" for tonight's contest. You can consider Rajon Rondo as well, but I prefer him when Boogie is healthy and playing down low. Fire up Gay as one of the top plays on the slate, provided that Boogie does in fact sit out.

Jeff Green (SF - MEM) FD: $4,500 DK: $4,800

Green is coming of yet another solid game, and even if Zach Randolph returns to action tonight, he makes for a solid value play at the SF position. He has bested 27 DK points in 4 of his last 6 games, with his lone "dud" (17.75) coming against Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs, so we'll give him a pass. He's an even better play if Z-Bo sits again, but I'll be employing him either way. An added bonus for myself is that my son absolutely loves him. I'd be a terrible father if I didn't roster my son's favorite player at this price, right?

Robert Covington (SF - PHI) FD: $5,700 DK: $4,800

"Big Shot Bob", as he is called by nobody in the world, makes for a nice value play tonight (mostly on DK) against the Celtics. He has posted 35.5 and 32.5 DK points in his last 2 contests, and will be one of the first players into my DK cash game lineups.

Tony Parker (PG - SAS) FD: $5,500 DK: $5,100

Don't look now, but Parker has been very good over his last 5 games, posting totals of 26.5, 39.5, 25.75, 26.75, and 37.25. He isn't the most flashy player, but this is a spot where Dallas will miss Tyson Chandler in a big way. Parker should have little trouble getting to the rim, and he is lethal when he gets there. He has played 32 minutes in 4 straight games, so his role seems to be safe as well.

Love the Parker pick. He has played strong over the past 10 days.
