Vegas Notes
- Hawks are 11.5 point favorites tonight, which could lead to blowout concerns, but it will not stop me from rostering Hawks in cash games tonight.
- Mavs, Hawks, Suns, Wizards, Cavs, Rockets all have team totals over 102 tonight.
- Knicks-Nets, and Bucks-Pistons have low 194, and 191 totals.
Top Picks
John Wall (PG), Wizards
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
Suns | 36 | 1.14 | 103.3 | 28.6 | 52.3 | 105 | 41.1 |
Salary: FD: $9,000 DK: $8,300
It has been somewhat of a down year for John Wall you could say, but a matchup against the Lakers and Cavs can get you right back on track. He will have another favorable matchup tonight, with Phoenix allowing the 4th most fantasy points per game to opposing point guards, and the most in the last five games. Wall is averaging 18-4-8 this season, with 2.3 steals per game. Both teams play with high pace, and as a whole, this game is one of my favorites tonight for offense. Wall is still too cheap on DK, while his recent play has his FanDuel salary on the rise. Wall's shot has been just at a 42% rate this year, but Phoenix is allowing a 47% FG% to opposing guards. Look for him to continue his hot run here.
James Harden (SG), Rockets
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
@Mavs | 37 | 1.32 | 106.9 | 33.1 | 38 | 102 | 48.8 |
Salary: FD: $10,800 DK: $10,500
Moving on from point guard, this is where the slate gets weird. There is a top tier play at each position, but a lot of scraps beneath. That is kind of how it is at shooting guard. James Harden offers the highest floor among any shooting guard, averaging over 50 fantasy points in the last five games. He is a lock for big minutes, whether Harden likes it or not, seeing about 40 per game. He is in another prime matchup against Dallas, a team he has torched many times. He went 25-7-10 against them earlier this season. Averaging 30-6-6 in the last five games, it is hard to get away from Harden.
Lebron James (SF), Cavs
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
@Pelicans | 35 | 1.31 | 100 | 32.2 | 40.3 | 106 | 45.8 |
Salary: FD: $10,000 DK: $10,000
Small forward is pure crap tonight. There is no other way to put it. Lebron James is your safest option, but his price tag is his biggest downside. Carmelo Anthony, Trevor Ariza, and Marcus Morris are on the slate, but I do not feel entirely great about rostering them. All are in play due to the lack of options, but James delivers your safe floor. He sits in the 40-47 fantasy point range which is great, but hasn't really shown the need to go any higher, unlike guys like Davis and Harden. He is having another stellar season, averaging 25-7-6, shooting 49%. New Orleans has the worst team defensive efficiency, and Lebron should post another 25-7-6 line.
Paul Millsap (PF), Hawks
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
Lakers | 34 | 1.25 | 100.9 | 24.4 | 44.4 | 107 | 42.5 |
Salary: FD: $8,500 DK: $8,300
Anthony Davis is the guy at PF tonight, but PF options a bit more underneath the top tier plays, unlike SF and SG. Paul Millsap is in a great spot, and here is to keeping this game close. Atlanta's defense is not on the level it was last season, and we saw the Lakers get their first win against the Wizards. Millsap is averaging 19-2-10 in the last six games, with 2.5 blocks+steals per game. He has been one of the more consistent PF plays, shooting 47% from the field, averaging nearly a double-double this season. Great matchup against the Lakers, who rank 25th in rebound differential, and 29th in defensive efficiency.
Clint Capela (C), Rockets
Opponent | Minutes | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Defensive Efficiency Rating | Usage Rate | Opposing Fantasy Points Allowed | Vegas Team Total | Projection |
Lakers | 31 | 1.16 | 106.9 | 16.8 | 45.5 | 102 | 35.9 |
Salary: FD: $4,700 DK: $5,800
To make room for some of these plays, Clint Capela is a safe cash game option at center. Dwight Howard is already listed out tonight, but Capela was inserted into a starting role a few games ago. Dallas ranks 22nd in rebound differential, despite Zaza Pachulia grabbing anything in sight. He is averaging 10 and 6, with 3 blocks+steals per game, in the last five games. He is shooting lights out from the field, with a 64% field goal percentage on the season. In consideration to other teams Dallas looks good against centers, but still allow an average of 18 points, 15 boards, and a 50% field goal percentage to opposing centers.
Value Plays
Patrick Beverley (PG - HOU) FD: $3,900 DK: $4,400
Patrick Beverley continues to play the backup role in Houston, but has been playing it very well. He is averaging 20 fantasy points in 27 minutes over the last five games, which is great for his price tag. Dallas has given up the 12th most fantasy points to opposing point guards this season.
T.J. Warren (SF - PHX) FD: $3,800 DK: $4,800
The SF situation is frustrating, with P.J. Tucker and T.J. Warren battling for minutes. Warren is the guy I want, who is a better fantasy points per minute play. This game better suits Warren, given it is uptempo. He is shooting 54% from the field this season, averaging 15 and 4 in the last six games. Washington has allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing small forwards this season.
Jeff Teague (PG - ATL) FD: $6,900 DK: $6,700
Not the usual prices we see listed in the value section, but any point guard playing the Lakers below $7,000 is value to me. L.A. is allowing the most fantasy points per game to opposing point guards, and Atlanta has one of the higher team totals. He is averaging 16-7-3 in the last six games, in just 29 minutes per game. The matchup should help with the upside Teague lacks as well.
