After only 9 games on Monday evening, we go back to almost a full slate on Tuesday with 14 games on the docket. The Cardinals and Brewers are the only 2 teams not in play this evening as they are playing a day/night doubleheader. As it is with any day he pitches, today is Clayton Kershaw day and with Zack Grienke the only other real ace on the hill, ClayK is pretty much a lock for all lineups as his K upside alone makes him by far the top option on the slate. While his matchup is less than ideal coming into the American League to face an excellent Indians lineup, there simply is not a better pitcher in the world than Kershaw and whenever he pitches he is the go to SP of the day. Finding someone to pair with Kershaw can be a little more difficult, however, as it is almost impossible to pair him with a guy like Greinke and still have money for bats. The guy I am looking to roll out with Kershaw is none other than Cincinnati Reds SP Scott Feldman. While I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be recommending Scott Feldman, there are numerous reasons for him to be the top guy to pair with Kershaw this evening. While Feldman won't wow you with his stuff, he has pitched much better this year than at any other point in his career. Feldman is coming off a gem against the Cardinals last week and although he wasn't his sharpest in the two starts prior to that, he dominated the Indians for almost 30 DK points less than a month ago. Feldman gets a supreme matchup against the lowly San Diego Padres while also trading in the hitters paradise that is known as the Great American SmallPark for pitcher friendly Petco Park. While the chance that Feldman gets rocked is always possible, his price is just too low for a guy who has pitched as well as he has. There are certainly many other options one can look at when finding an SP2 to pair with Kershaw, I'm rolling with Feldman in a great matchup in a great pitchers park.
