Quarterback
QB | Opp | Ownership % | DK Salary | FD Salary |
Russell Wilson | Browns | 23.7 | $7,000 | $8,800 |
Blake Bortles | Falcons | 9.4 | $6,100 | $7,900 |
Cam Newton | @ Giants | 8.5 | $7,800 | $9,400 |
Matthew Stafford | @ Saints | 8.3 | $6,100 | $7,800 |
Drew Brees | Lions | 7.5 | $6,600 | $8,000 |
Carson Palmer | @ Eagles | 7.3 | $7,000 | $8,700 |
Tom Brady | Titans | 5.5 | $7,800 | $9,500 |
Tyrod Taylor | @ Redskins | 2.7 | $5,600 | $7,500 |
Alex Smith | @ Ravens | 2 | $5,100 | $7,000 |
Aaron Rodgers | @ Raiders | 1.9 | $7,400 | $9,000 |
No shocker that Russell Wilson is the chalk, but a near 25% ownership rate is eye popping. That said, I'm still a huge fan of Wilson this week even if you don't get a low-ownership edge with him. His ownership rate should be even higher on DraftKings, where his price is even more salary-cap friendly. No one is sleeping on the Monday Night Football game, as both Matthew Stafford and Drew Brees crack the top-five ownership rates at quarterback this week. I like both sides of that contest. I love the ownership rates for Carson Palmer and Tom Brady. They are both playing MVP-caliber football, and if Julian Edelman is able to return this week (something I'm not holding my breath waiting for), Brady's stock would get a bump. Of the sub-5% owned quarterbacks, I like the duo of Tyrod Taylor and Alex Smith. Smith provides big salary relief at both sites, and the Ravens have been an awful pass defense. A Smith/Maclin stack is enticing, and Smith can even add some value with his legs.
Running Back
RB | Opp | Ownership% | DK Salary | FD Salary |
David Johnson | @ Eagles | 22.1 | $5,700 | $6,500 |
Adrian Peterson | Bears | 19.9 | $7,100 | $8,600 |
Lamar Miller | @ Chargers | 15.3 | $6,300 | $6,700 |
DeAngelo Williams | Broncos | 11.6 | $6,600 | $7,000 |
Eddie Lacy | @ Raiders | 11.1 | $5,200 | $6,900 |
Denard Robinson | Falcons | 10.2 | $4,600 | $6,300 |
Tim Hightower | Lions | 7.3 | $3,900 | $6,300 |
LeSean McCoy | @ Redskins | 7 | $6,300 | $7,900 |
Jeremy Hill | @ 49ers | 6.5 | $5,000 | $6,000 |
Devonta Freeman | @ Jaguars | 6.4 | $7,500 | $8,400 |
James White | Titans | 5 | $4,600 | $6,400 |
Giovani Bernard | @ 49ers | 2.5 | $4,500 | $5,600 |
Fozzy Whittaker | @ Giants | 2.3 | $3,000 | $4,800 |
Darren Sproles | Cardinals | 0.9 | $4,200 | $5,600 |
David Johnson has been excellent since thrust into the feature-back role, and his salary remains somewhat depressed relative to his production on the field. As a solid pass catcher, he has a bit more value with the full-point awarded per reception at DraftKings. The Vikings are almost a touchdown favorite, and the offense runs through Adrian Peterson. Game flow shouldn't get out of hand, and he should best 20 carries against a bad run defense. Gamers are rightfully flocking to him in GPPs. Lamar Miller has been electric and under utilized in his career. Last week he scored twice and eclipsed 80 yards rushing despite failing to net even 20 carries. Maybe one of these days the Dolphins coaches will get a clue, and if that's this week against the pathetic run defense of the Chargers, Miller could be the highest scoring back. Sitting in the middle of the pack I'm digging Denard Robinson and Tim Hightower. Robinson would get the nod if T.J. Yeldon missed the game on Sunday, and he has yet to practice. The Falcons have been very giving to backs this year, and Robinson has shined when given the opportunity as a feature back. Hightower set a career high with 28 carries last week against the stout run defense of the Buccaneers. This week, the sledding should be easier against the Lions, and he provides a nifty combo of salary relief and exposure to a big over/under total. The last back that caught my eye in the table is Jeremy Hill. I'm all over him in GPPs against the porous run defense of the 49ers, and his ownership rate of under 7% further fuels my love of using him this week.

Whelp, you're not going to get the wide receivers for the Seahawks at a low-ownership rate. If you think Doug Baldwin's ownership is high on FanDuel, I'd be shocked if it's under 50% in GPPs at DraftKings where he's comically under priced still. Tyler Lockett should see a slightly higher ownership rate there, too, but that's partly the product of the FLEX position there. Jeremy Maclin is another high-owned receiver who should get a bump at DraftKings thanks to a combo of his price and the FLEX spot. I still love him, though. I'm less enamored with Ted Ginn as GPP play now that I've seen his ownership rate. Conversely, I'm more in love with Larry Fitzgerald (who is actually lower owned than Michael Floyd), Odell Beckham Jr. (I over estimated the lemming influence on his ownership rate) and Antonio Brown (tough matchup be damned, he and Big Ben have been awesome together). In the lower price range I'm going to go out of my way to sneak Allen Hurns onto some of my rosters at a sub-5% ownership rate.
Tight End
TE | Opp | Ownership % | DK Salary | FD Salary |
Jordan Reed | Bills | 17.7 | $5,900 | $6,300 |
Rob Gronkowski | Titans | 11.8 | $7,700 | $8,500 |
Ben Watson | Lions | 11.3 | $4,800 | $5,600 |
Antonio Gates | Dolphins | 11.3 | $4,600 | $5,800 |
Richard Rodgers | @ Raiders | 6.5 | $4,300 | $5,500 |
Delanie Walker | @ Patriots | 4 | $5,600 | $6,300 |
Greg Olsen | @ Giants | 3.5 | $6,900 | $6,800 |
Gary Barnidge | @ Seahawks | 3.5 | $5,000 | $6,400 |
Travis Kelce | @ Ravens | 3.1 | $4,400 | $6,000 |
Zach Miller | Vikings | 2.4 | $3,600 | $5,500 |
Jordan Reed is the top target for Kirk Cousins, and Cousins plays much better at home. He's a strong play this week, but the ownership gap between him and Greg Olsen (my favorite play at the position) could close if Olsen remains on track to play Sunday. Rob Gronkowski didn't skip a beat after his one-game absence, and his ceiling always makes him a popular GPP play, and a good one at that. Of the bargain tight ends, I like both Richard Rodgers and Zach Miller. Rodgers has been a source of touchdowns but not much yardage, and Miller has had a nose for the end zone and probably has a slightly higher yardage ceiling.
Defense
DEF | Opp | Ownership % | DK Salary | FD Salary |
Seahawks | Browns | 25 | $4,200 | $5,400 |
Chiefs | @ Ravens | 11.4 | $3,700 | $5,200 |
Patriots | Titans | 7.4 | $3,700 | $5,000 |
Bengals | @ 49ers | 7.3 | $3,400 | $4,900 |
Panthers | @ Giants | 7 | $3,300 | $5,100 |
Steelers | Broncos | 4.8 | $2,700 | $4,600 |
Texans | @ Colts | 4.2 | $2,500 | $4,800 |
Cardinals | @ Eagles | 2.2 | $3,900 | $5,200 |
Bills | @ Redskins | 1.2 | $2,800 | $4,500 |
Dolphins | @ Chargers | 0.9 | $2,800 | $4,700 |
Holy cow, Seahawks. That's an impressive ownership rate, especially considering they require a substantial salary commitment. That said, their upside is enormous at home against the lowly Browns. The white-hot Chiefs check in behind them. The only knock on the Chiefs is that they're on the road, but that's offset by facing a Jimmy Clausen-led offense. When factoring in ownership rate, I'm liking the Patriots more than I already did (and I ranked them as an elite defense in The Blitz). Among the cheap defenses, I'd happily use the Steelers at both sites and the Texans at DraftKings.
