Few questions on how to set up the optimizer

Last week I won some and I lost some, however one thing I notice was that I had to many similar players in each lineup because of that with a certain injury it hindered my performance. I typically do about 16 leagues just all different prices $.25-$3. In order to do ok I have to have exposure, should I do like 25%? For example this week I don't want Derek Carr and Freeman to be in all of my lineups.

Also, I noticed the stack for this week is the raiders which I think can have high upside. However why is it bad to have a RB and QB on the same team. I noticed the new feature to disable it.

Why would one prefer Fantasy points allowed vs Vegas vs total yards ect... instead of just using the optimizer as is.

As you can tell I am still new just trying to learn

Question

Also, James Jones is showing for the wrong team. Does that affect his projections?

The RB tends to vulture some of the QBs TD's. Whereas if you have a QB + WR you can hit on both if the QB throws a TD to the WR. The RB is a one way road if they rush for a TD and adds a bit more risk from what I have gathered.

This week I have my setting to the following:

Deselected the following teams: Thursday's game, Dolphins, Panthers, Bucanneers, Browns, 49ers.

Cash

Exclude Def facing Offense

Disallow QB & RB

Vegas totals

I am in no way a pro at this but I took out the game with the lowest Vegas over/under. I also personally want to stay away from the Thursday night game and the London game if I can. I dont trust Vick + Brown connection for Cash games. Maybe throw Antonio in a GPP lineup to hope he hits big. Really I only trust that Le'Veon may get the rock a lot more as long as they dont end up behind early. I am preparing a slew of questions for the Cafe pros on their opinions of players later this evening.

When it comes to the RB/QB on same team it really depends on the team. If you have a team like the Steelers it does not matter as much. The main thing is you do not get points from your QB when the RB gets a rushing yard but you do get double points when your WR gets receiving yards.

You should definitely use Exposure to accomplish this. The amount of exposure is up to you. It's a matter of your risk tolerance.

These models place emphasis and adjust projections accordingly. Just depends on what you personally value. Fantasy Points Allowed isn't an all encompassing stat. It's dependent on opponents, but can still be valuable. Vegas is one I think is a must have.

Sam,

So if I understand this correctly. If I set exposure to 25% that means the same player will show up in 1 of every 4 of my lineups of the 25 it gives me?

Do you suggest we use exposure more for GPP? Should we have less diversity on cash games so if we win, we win on most of them?

Good questions WhoDeyNation, I am curious about that as well.

I haven't done any cash games, just GPP so I know the lineups are different.

When you go into building a lineup for cash and for GPP, what do you start with and think is the most important. I know some people choose QB first and then RB ect, what is the best style? I know it is all opinions.

Eugene, I dont choose any position in particular first.

I do like to have 1-3 super stars on my line-up though.

If you lock and set exposure to 25%, player will appear in 25% of lineups or closer number possible. if you set 25% exposure without locks, you give Colossus freedom to include up to, but not greater than 25% exposure

Jason or Zach are more qualified to answer this, but many people run with one cash game lineup or two depending on confidence level. Yes, more exposure for GPP's, especially if you're running many lineups.
