Each week how do you decide to stack?

Is it best to normally just stack a QB w/ a WR or TE? What other stackings would you suggest?

I am new and am just curious.

Question

I think it depends on a few factors:

1. Vegas Total - are there enough points to go around? If you have a 24 pts total and you want to play it, you probably don't stack more than a QB/WR or QB/TE

2. Projections - are the players in your stack projected to score high points?

3. Players - stack good players. You can usually feel pretty good stacking Brady/Gronk/Edelman. You may not feel good stacking Bortles/Hurns/Lewis. When Broncos were running hot last year, I saw winning lineups with Manning/Sanders/Thomas/D. Thomas.

Thank you for the feedback Sam. So sometimes it is benefiical to stack more than just two players.

I had success stacking Rodgers/Cobb/Nelson last year, as well as Brady/Gronk/Edelman this year. Three player stacks are risky, and you have to realize that the stack total may be lower than the ceiling of three individual players at similar salaries.

It works though. Mainly because all three players have high floors. Ideally you'd like to have two of them go off, with the third providing a hedge.

If you can find a home favorite with a workhorse running back, you can stack the player with their team defense. Game scripts in those situations yield a positive correlation between the RB and defense.

QB/TE stacks are the easiest way to field a unique lineup, especially if the QB has a bottom half salary. Andy Dalton/Tyler Eifert is a stack I will have exposure to, all the while benefiting from salary relief.

Good luck...

Everything everyone else said is correct. Vegas lines are very important but another aspect is the average number of touches/targets of each player. If you have a team like the Steelers that have two players who average 20 touches and 10 targets than I would feel good about stacking the QB/RB/WR.

The Steelers are a great example Zach, Big Ben, Bell, and Brown all have so much upside, and they don't limit each other.
