The First Tee at the SBS Tournament of Champions

The first week of the 2017 PGA Tour season takes us to Hawaii, for the SBS Tournament of Champions. The host course this week is the Kapalua Plantation Course, which continues its duties as the course where all of last year's tournament winners want to come and compete in the first week of the new season. Last year's champion, Jordan Spieth is in attendance this week, and will look to start the new season exactly as he did in 2016.

The Plantation Course at Kapalua is one of the most scenic golf courses that you will ever see. It is consistently ranked as the #1 golf course in Hawaii, which is saying something considering the natural landscape that surrounds so many of these courses. It is located in the West Maui Mountains and offers dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean from nearly every tee box.

This week the Plantation Course will be stretched out to a little over 7,400 yards and will play to a par 73. The course record at the Plantation Course is 62, and is shared by KJ Choi, Graeme McDowell and Chris Kirk and world #1, Jason Day, who both tied the record in the 2015 edition of the Tournament of Champions.
