The purpose of this column is to highlight some players with upside and well-suited for tournaments. While the majority of the hitter picks will likely have power upside, that's not necessarily the case for all the listed options. Other contextual factors such as batting order, ballpark, opposing pitcher, price, speed, etc also come into play, and you'll see these items sprinkled into the write-ups below. Along with that, we'll be gauging the ownership levels, giving you some plausible pivots from the popular choices in a given game slate.

Lance Lynn (R), Cardinals

$8,900 $8,400 @ MIA 4.09 21.4% 48.4% 3.5 -115

If you're looking to swerve off the top names (Darvish, Salazar, Archer, Strasburg), then Lynn is your guy. He has been remarkably consistent over his last four starts, posting at least 40 FanDuel points and 20.7 DraftKings points. Over that span, he has posted a 23/7 K/BB and allowed just two earned runs over 25 innings of work. Tonight he draws a Marlins team that is below average against RHP this season with a .136 ISO, .304 wOBA, and 85 wRC+. They also rank 22nd in MLB with just a 29.7% HardHit against RHP. Lynn is a marginal favorite (-115) against Tom Koehler, and should be able to find plenty of run support to pick up the win here at low ownership. Marlins Park profiles as a pitcher's park also, and Lynn has done a tremendous job of limiting damage of late.

$4,600 $4,700 Matt Boyd - L .329 .114 96 3 5.75

Not only do the Diamondbacks have the highest team total on the board at 5.75 runs at home at Chase Field tonight, but we get Goldy against a lefty! While his 2017 numbers against southpaws are less than impressive, we know the drill with Goldy. He owns a career .256 ISO and .430 wOBA against LHP, and tonight he draws an ideal matchup against Matt Boyd, who has allowed a 40.2% HardHit to RHB this season. This game has a total that is Coors-esque at 10.5 runs, and you would be best served to get yourself some shares of both sides.

$4,000 $4,500 Fransisco Liriano- L .353 .192 126 2 4.75

Sure, Liriano is a capable pitcher (usually), but Lindor is the type of player who can punish you for making mistakes. He has already blasted 8 homers on the young season, and will be facing a positive park shift into the Rogers Centre. On the surface, it looks like Liriano has done well, but he has been terrible against RHB this season, allowing a .393 wOBA. Frankie Lindor is hitting near the top of a very potent lineup, and one that should have plenty of runners on base throughout this one against Liriano, who continues to struggle with command (1.75 WHIP, 6.84 BB/9). Lindor owns a solid .353 wOBA and .192 ISO against southpaws, and the Indians make for a sneaky stack tonight with huge potential if the wild Liriano shows up again.

$4,500 $4,000 Tom Koehler - R .429 .282 165 3 5

Carpenter is looking like an elite hitter once again, crushing RHP to the tune of a .282/.441/.564 slash line, and opposing pitcher Tom Koehler is the perfect target for an elite lefty. Carpenter owns a higher BB rate (22.5%) than K rate (21.6%) against RHP this season, which gives him a tremendous floor as well. "Big Salad" has struggled against LHB throughout his career, and this year has been an absolute nightmare for him against opposite-handed hitters, as he has allowed a whopping six homers in just 11.2 IP. Lefties are roughing him up to the tune of a .340 BA and .510 wOBA thus far, and while those numbers are likely to regress some, his 41.5% HardHit is incredibly concerning as well. This is the perfect spot for Cardinal lefties, and Carp is the best of the bunch. The only thing playing against them is the spacious ballpark in Miami,

$3,600 $3,500 Kyle Kendrick - R .339 .227 104 4 5.5

Shaw is one of my favorite cheap plays on the slate tonight, as he has the privilege of facing one of the worst starting pitchers we've seen in our lifetimes. Kyle Kendrick owns a CAREER 4.92 K/9, 4.82 FIP, and has allowed a .362 wOBA to LHB throughout his (somehow) long career. Shaw is thriving in his new role with Milwaukee, posting a .274 ISO and .357 wOBA thus far in 2017, and will be at home in the hitter-friendly confines of Miller Park. The Brew Crew should be popular, but Shaw is cheap enough that he makes plenty of sense as a one-off in non-Brewers GPP lineups.
