Top Pitchers
CC Sabathia (L), Yankees
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp | FIP | K% | GB% | Opp Run Total | Moneyline |
$7,100 | $7,500 | @ Orioles | 4.35 | 22 | 33 | 4 | EVEN |
There's one obvious pitching option on tonight's late slate and that's Zack Greinke, so we'll look elsewhere as a GPP play with CC Sabathia, facing an Orioles team that, despite hitting lefties fairly well this season, has really been struggling overall lately as most of their big bats have been in slumps. They also have been striking out a ton lately, which is saying something when you always have both Chris Davis and Manny Machado in your lineup. They sit at 20.4% on the season, but it continues to climb. The Orioles wOBA against lefties has fallen to right around league average at .311 as well.
Top Hitters
Kris Bryant (R), Cubs | |||||||
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$4,500 | $4,500 | Leake - LHP | .389 | .176 | 133 | 3 | 4 |
Mike Leake has been pretty good lately, but he's a guy I love to target in GPPs because he's prone to just get absolutely smoked every once in a while and he's been eerily consistent lately. Bryant had better minor league splits against lefties, but he's been crushing righties to the tune of a .389 wOBA against them so far on the season and his ISO feels a little low and likely to rise at just .176. Bryant is pricey and that should keep his ownership down tonight.
Joey Votto (L), Reds | |||||||
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$4,400 | $5,100 | Hendricks - RHP | .412 | .192 | 141 | 3 | 3 |
Votto is going to be overshadowed in ownership tonight by Anthony Rizzo and Adrian Gonzalez tonight, mostly because Votto's price has shot up after his three home run game earlier in the week. Votto offers some nice power upside coupled with his strong floor that's always been around. He faces a pretty average righty in Hendricks tonight and should be well underowned in GPPs due to the less than flashy matchup and price bump.
Adam Jones (R), Orioles
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs LHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs LHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs LHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3,600 | $4,600 | Sabathia - LHP | .367 | .205 | 141 | 3 | 4 |
Adam Jones has absolutely been crushing lefties on the young season and he and Matt Wieters are the only guys in the Orioles lineup that scare me today against Sabathia. Jones has racked up a .468 wOBA and .308 ISO on the young season against lefties and is simply underpriced against them on all sites. Jones offers some massive upside in all categories if any of the guys around him in the lineup can get to Sabathia as well.
Ben Zobrist (S), A's | |||||||
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs LHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs LHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs LHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$5,000 | $3,500 | Kelly - RHP | .341 | .128 | 113 | 2 | 3.5 |
Zobrist is one of my favorite players to play in GPPs consistently, because he's rarely heavily owned due to his pretty balanced ability against pitchers from both sides of the plate. He'll face a lefty in C.J. Wilson tonight who hasn't been great this season and is giving up too many home runs. I love his second base eligibility and his price for the power and upside he provides. He's been rock solid against lefties over his career with a .341 wOBA over the past three seasons. The power hasn't come around yet this season, but he's just finally starting to look healthy.
Value and Platoon Plays
Matt Wieters (C - BAL) FD: $3,200 DK: $3,900
Wieters is the other Oriole who has raked against lefties in his career. He's started slowly this season since returning from injury, but since he's been in the league, he's crushed lefties with his power numbers. Wieters has a career .348 wOBA against them and his price is low relative to his upside today.
Joe Panik (2B - SF) FD: $3,400 DK: $3,800
Panik has been a big part of the Giants success against righties this season, racking up a .365 wOBA and surprising .165 ISO against them through the first couple months. He's still relatively cheap and has continued to hit second in the order despite the rise of Brandon Crawford. Allen Webster is far from an intimidating pitcher and he should excel in this game.
Brett Gardner (OF - NYY) FD: $3,900 DK: $4,400
Gardner has been impressive filling in for Jacoby Ellsbury in the leadoff spot this season and his combination of pop and speed has been a bright spot for his owners this season.
Brandon Crawford (SS - SF) FD: $3,000 DK: $3,900
Brandon Crawford has cooled off from his torrid May a bit, but he's still one of the higher upside shortstops in the league right now, simply because their aren't many. He's leading all shortstops in ISO over the past five weeks with a .176 mark and his price on both DraftKings and FanDuel are offering some serious GPP upside. Allen Webster's 9.00 ERA from his previous five starts in Triple-A is not scaring me away from him.
