Pitcher
Johnny Cueto (L), Reds | |||||||
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp | FIP | K% | GB% | Opp Run Total | Moneyline |
$11,000 | $10900 | @ Marlins | 3.80 | 25% | 45% | 3 | -150 |
I don't need to convince you about Cueto, especially following a masterful performance against the Nationals last time around. Now he'll take on the anemic, Stanton-less Miami offense in the pitcher-friendly atmosphere of Marlins Park. Remember, this is the same Miami team that Mike Leake shutdown on Friday night. Cueto checks in with the best floor/upside combination ... I also like Jake Arrieta vs the White Sox for a little cheaper.
Catcher
Salvador Perez (R), Royals
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs LHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs LHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs LHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$2,400 | $3900 | Doubront - L | .321 | .162 | 95 | 6? 7? | 4 |
Plenty of Royals will be featured in this column, and that stems from multiple reasons: First, the matchup against Felix Doubrount is nice, as the southpaw owns a .342 wOBA mark against right-handed hitters. Secondly, most of the Kansas City right-handed bats are cheap, especially on FanDuel where Perez checks in near minimum salary.
First Base
David Ortiz (L), Red Sox
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3,400 | $4300 | Eovaldi - R | .400 | .273 | 162 | 3 | 4.5 |
This is a fantastic matchup in hitter-friendly Fenway Park. Yankee starter Nathan Eovaldi has a generous .340 wOBA mark against left-handed hitters, and Ortiz should be able to capitalize with a fair salary level. In addition, there aren't any outstanding, well-priced first base plays you feel bad about missing out on while taking the security of Ortiz ... Brandon Belt checks in 2nd on the list as a nice "per dollar" pick.
Second Base
Joe Panik (L), Giants | |||||||
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3000 | $3400 | Billingsley - R | .334 | .108 | 93 | 2 | 4 |
The San Francisco offense keeps chugging along, as most teams have been doing against this discombobulated Philadelphia pitching rotation. Today they'll start Chad Billingsley, who has a reasonable susceptibility against left-handed hitters. Panik is in a great run scoring spot batting 2nd in front of the likes of Belt, Posey, and all the other red-hot Giant bats.
Third Base
Kris Bryant (R), Cubs | |||||||
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs LHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs LHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs LHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3500 | $4500 | Quintana - L | .460 | .357 | n/a | 3 | 4 |
Obvioulsy the .460 wOBA .357 ISO is an unsustainable split inflated by the lack of plate appearances against left-handed pitcher. However, we can still say Bryant is well above-average at hitting southpaws - and I don't believe anyone would argue with that statement. He has a fine righty/lefty draw against Jose Quintana tonight, and the $3500 tag is extremely workable.
Shortstop
Alcides Escobar (R), Royals
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs LHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs LHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs LHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$2500 | $4100 | Doubront - L | .295 | .094 | 77 | 1 | 4 |
Escobar is inexplicably dirt-cheap on FanDuel, and I believe he's a "no-brainer" over there. You'll probably want to weigh your options on DraftKings, as the $4100 tag is quite lofty, even though it does accurately reflect his recent performance.
Outfield
Lorenzo Cain (R), Royals
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs LHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs LHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs LHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$4000 | $4900 | Doubront - L | .346 | .133 | 92 | 3 | 4 |
Cain has been smoldering hot over the last several weeks, and now he'll step into a comfortable righty/lefty matchup against Felix Doubront. He's not a must play due to the inflated salary level. However, if you can work him in, do so with confidence. Cain received the day off yesterday afternoon, so he should be ready to go in this juicy draw.
Chris Young (R), Yankees
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs LHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs LHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs LHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$2800 | $4500 | Miley - L | .334 | .200 | 89 | 2 | 4 |
Now is the time to deploy the Yankee platoon specialist into all of your lineups. He has a great matchup against left-hander Wade Miley (.331 wOBA vs RHB), checking in as one of the better hitters against left-handed tossers on the season. Fenway Park is extremely generous to right-handed power, and that's exactly what Young provides in this situation.
Kelly Johnson (L), Braves
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3500 | $3700 | Bettis - R | .300 | .095 | 92 | 4 | 4.5 |
Johnson continues to be reasonably priced despite the shift to Coors Field. That especially holds true on DraftKings, where he's a building block for just $3700. He'll get a favorable lefty/righty draw against Chad Bettis today, batting cleanup in this high projected scoring affair.
